Chapter 1

D ing my phone goes off. It’s a message from Althea. Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something, can I come by to talk? Cool that is fine come through when you get off. Let me call momma right quick. Ring Ring Ring, hey momma what are you doing? Nothing just been in this yard. You know I love my flowers. Ok I already know. So, guess who texted me today. Zay? No... Althea. Oh, really now what was she talking about? She texted me saying that she wanted to talk to me about something.

Oh really, what you think it is? Momma I think she is going to ask to stay with me. I don’t why I have that feeling. Well, that’ll be fine but don’t let that boy that she’s dealing with stay. He’s a troublemaker. He tries to act like he is a badass. Your sister and I went over there to talk to her about the situation that happened with Sophia. While she was sitting in her car, he came out the apartment. Hitting on her car window cussing her out calling her out her name. Sophia told Althea that she wasn’t comfortable being in the house with him by herself.

What!!!!! I never seen him act like that. Every time he comes around, he always laughing and talking to me. Don’t let that fool you Ava that boy is no good. Your sister was telling Althea that she needs to deal with a man that has God in his life. And he was in her room with the door slightly open. He had to be ease dropping listening. He comes out the room saying if we have a problem with him.

Take it up with me you can get any man in your family to confront me too. And this boy was hitting his chest while saying that. I don’t like him, Ava. I told him I’m old enough to be your grandmother and her mother said what she said. And Althea told Andre to go back into the room. But she didn’t have to be in front of him. I was going to kick his ass myself.

Ring, ring, ring, ring, Tamia picks up. Hey Ava, how are you doing? Doing good just at the house relaxing just getting off work. Ok, so what’s going on? Well, nothing really your daughter Althea texted me asking if she can come by and talk to me. And I have a feeling she is going to ask stay with me. Tamia took a long pause and then she said To be honest Ava I wouldn’t let her stay.

I know she is my daughter. But Althea isn’t the same anymore since she has got with that boy. Well, I don’t know if she is going to ask for sure, but if she does I’m going to think about it real hard. Ok Ava if you let her stay with you, ya’ll relationship will never be the same I’m telling you. They both disrespected momma and I when we went over her house to talk to her. He’s not what you think he is.

I can feel the awkwardness in the air as the conversation goes quiet. I have to go do something. But I will call you back tomorrow sis love you. Love you too Ava. That conversation was so crazy. I can’t lie what my sister said was lingering in the back of my mind as I wait for Althea to come over.

But I was snapped out of that trance by a knock on the door. Hold on coming!!! Hey girly, how are you doing? I’m good with a worried look on her face. You sure what’s going on? I really needed to talk to you about my living situation. So,what about it? What going on with your place now? I was wondering would it possible if I can stay with you for a while. I don’t want to renew my lease me, Sophia, and Rachel aren’t getting along.

And I just can’t do it anymore. No lie in the back of my mind im like fighting with myself in my head while she was talking. The conversation between my sister and I was ringing clear as day. But my mouth still said yes even though I heard what my sister just said. Oh well she’s family she should be straight. Yes, that’s fine when do your lease expire. My lease is up in the end of March.

Ok well I do need you to do two things pay two hundred on the rent and, help me with dropping Mia off to your grandma in the morning at the gas station. I have to work in the morning. I have to be to work at 6a.m. and I get off at 2 p.m. I will pick her up from your grandmother’s house. That’s cool with you?

Yea Aunt Ava that’s fine. Let me know when you start moving so I can give you a key. Well, Aunt Ava I’m about to go home thank you so much. Your welcome drive home safely. As I close the door, I get a notification on Facebook. So later on, that night I decided to look through my messages and notifications.

Just so happen a couple of months back I deactivated my account for a while. And while it was deactivated, I got a message from this guy that I used to talk to a long time ago in my parent’s neighborhood. No lie I was in love with this guy I would do anything to give this a try. His name is Tyquavious but I call him Ty for short. He said Hey boo I miss you.

I couldn’t help myself but respond back. Hey, how you been? And I received a message back instantly. My heart started pounding, it felt like the first time we met again. We were going back and forth texting and sending pics to each other. I went to sleep, I slept so good like a baby because I got to talk to him.

Chapter 2

A lthea just texted me. Hey auntie I’m outside. I walked over to my manager’s desk. Hey Mary, I just wanted to let you know that I need to step away from my desk, to give my niece something right quick. Ok that’s fine. As I’m walking out the door, I see Kelly. I’m thinking to myself damn he is so fine low hair cut, glasses, Hersey chocolate skin.
