The city of South Florida is willing to do anything to attract the movie industry, even if it means blocking off miles of roads and highways for days on end.

Full-bore alligator panic is sweeping Florida after three fatal attacks on humans. People are arriving in droves, and so are the alligators.

The alligator attacks are a predictable public reaction to the recent spate of attacks, but people should understand that the gators are not easy to kill. They are not afraid of humans anymore, because humans have been feeding them for years.

The state’s population grew by only 1. 1 percent during the 12-month span ending last July 1, a significant dip from the 1. 8 percent increase recorded the previous year. The break is long overdue, as Florida is becoming a less
