The Covid pandemic forced many of us into a standstill and complete isolation for long periods in 2020. For the author, this time of silence became the opportunity of embarking on a spiritual journey which brought him back to his origins. Born in 1981 in Setlagole, a village in the Northwest province, from a family of nine children who were too soon orphaned of both parents, young Pati became familiar with the hardships of life from a very early age. Through the re-visitation of his painful memories, and the analysis of the steps and the choices that determined his personal growth, the author addresses some of the most complex features and interrogatives of human existence: the reasons behind our birth and our death, the meaning of pain, the importance of living a purposeful life, the triggers of human resilience and the healing power of forgiveness. While writing of the adventure that led him to leave a very poor area of the country to travel to Johannesburg in search for better material opportunities, the author also describes the deep internal transformations that came with the change.
Despite the sadness evoked by the recollection of a life where the material and emotional needs of a young person for various reasons were not responded to, this book contains a comforting message of hope, which comes from the clear and net rejection by the author of being confined within the fences of victimhood. Pateletso rather chose to be empowered by the awareness that, no matter our conditions, human beings hold an infinite spiritual power that, if mastered with knowledge and accountability, will lead each of us to happiness, through the fulfillment of our unique purpose.

Pateletso Mokgotle

Pateletso William Mokgotle was born on the 16th December 1981 in the village of Setlagole, in the North West Province of South Africa. The eight of nine children, Pateletso’s youth, spent during the last decade of the apartheid era, was riddled by painful losses and crippling poverty. At twelve, after the passing of both his parents, he was separated from the younger siblings and taken in by a relative’s family.In his early twenties a deep passion for music and the figurative arts and the dream of leaving the harsh conditions and the lack of opportunities typical of a remote south African township brought Pateletso to Johannesburg.Here, while working as car washer, gardener and security guard, the author obtained a diploma in sound engineering, attended several business courses and qualified as a personal trainer.In 2020 he perfected his studies as life coach. In 2021 he published his first book “Life purpose and Mastery Adventure”, keen on sharing his difficult journey and what motivated him through the hardships with those who struggle to pursue their purpose due to life circumstances.

Introduction

This book was penned during the hard lockdown imposed in South Africa at the end of March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic started to affect our country. When I started this writing project, it was not clear to me what direction it would take or what it would represent for me in the end. Its meaning kept on changing as my ability to understand the language of the soul expanded. Eventually, I figured out the real purpose of what I was doing. The destination of this new journey I am on today came with a new definition (for myself in relation to the universe), a new purpose and a new mission. It also led to an understanding of the power of language (how language can exaggerate or limit something and also lead to misinterpretations of feelings and thoughts and emotions). This experience felt like receiving directions to go back home, where my inner being exists, where my heart speaks. It was an instruction to live in the full consciousness of my true self; a dimension where I will be able to experience and understand my feelings, to capture the essence of what I am releasing to the world daily and to release it freely (if you go to work but you don’t understand why you are doing it, then you are not doing it freely). I am now also able to grasp the consequences of my new awareness. This journey has given me a glimpse of self-mastery and the nectar of this awareness is so delicious that it is not easy to come off it once tasted. I discovered curiosity as a value or in my case, a deliberate obsession.

As I progress on my adventure, the dots start to connect and more meanings and answers come to mind. When I do something to act on my new understanding, the dots connect further. It is like a game which slowly helps me to expose the illusion that influences most of our lives. It is clear to me how my discovery can lead to the awakening of the real power inside me and in every other human being: the Christ, the Buddha, Muhammad, however one wants to call the deity who lives within us, it is the energy that creates prosperity if it is fully tapped into. This journey made me realise how complex the substance of life is, beyond the known, to the point that it seems that churches and schools are not able to find an adequate method to teach it in a way that, after the learning is complete, self-mastery is reached and life’s purposes are fulfilled and dreams lived and pursued in harmony with God’s will and in ways that deserve Her/His appreciation. This is done so that the Highest Love can express His or Her being through us. I see us, humans and nature alike, as creative manifestations of His/Her existence. God is nothing less than the realisation of total beauty, an abundant, harmonious and perfect balance of all manifestations of life. All that is creativity is beauty; every piece of art intended as human creation is beauty.

This reasoning highlights how perfect and worthy we all are in the eyes of the Creator and that no matter what our life conditions are, God still resides in us and expresses Himself through us. By being aware of His or Her mechanics (the mechanics of creation and of the work done by God) or, in other terms, by knowing the art of co-creatorship, we can truly change everything, both in and outside our worlds.

This book narrates that journey. It is written in the way the story unfolded in my mind, in the form of a dialogue between the adult Pateletso and his inner child Pati, who has been bruised by his life experiences and is still suffering from them. Pateletso however, by living his life with awareness, is able to console Pati and explain to him the meaning of these experiences, the reasons why he went through them and felt pain, the significance of that hurt and the reasons why he should suffer no more.

This is Pati: the true self standing in front of his own shadow, the two entities which form the One. It is the unexpected visit of one’s true world from the past, the unintentional look into the records of the soul and the ego person’s data.

Pati looks at it as he goes on to play his life tape, a life lived at different levels of time and space, maturity, wisdom and knowledge.

This book is a mishmash of my thoughts and emotions, my personal discoveries and realisations.
