The Jewel Garden - Uncle Chuck

    Emerald Leaves

    1.

old interfaces, snow-crowned, growing & crumbling

a triple line where humanity, mountain, & sky

    touch

    & do not touch

    are 1

    & are 10,000

    2.

    10,000 emerald leaves

    like emerald leaflets

    on the inevitability

    of autumn

    3.

    The aftertaste of bergamot,

    gently,

    cloud-like

    passes away

    4.

    Prairie flowers.

    The plains grew bison

    with blades of grass

    5.

    Those striking points like incursions

    –– icy diadem ––

look like they could pop the firmament

& let all the waters flow out over themselves

    & enjoy a bath

    6.

    dog patterns around blocks

    constantly, simultaneously

a single pattern/system like eddies along fjords

wagging tails, leashes, legs dilated across time become

like the frothy-water inner edge of the eddy

    7.

at night the cities mimic the stars,

    scattered lights in the dark

    flat flattery

    8.

These creatures, like islands, cannot rest,

    cannot help but drift,

    bump into each other,

    love,

    make little atolls

    9.

    Evergreen is a misnomer,

    just like every ever is.

    The needles fall,

    become yellow,

    become soil,

    forever

    10.

    Owls ask important questions

    in 10,000 intonations

    expecting answers

    11.

    Cyclicalities:

    fluid through our pipes,

    through us,

    through our pipes;

    life;

    destruction;

the little glass tray in the microwave

    12.

    sky, tree, soil:

    tri-fold, unitary

the tree a stubborn interface between:

    dualism Mantle-Stratosphere

    13.

    the clinks of gutter cans

    syncopate

    breezes & birdsong

    14.

    ruby-sandstone turrets

    Rocky, cloud-skirted pinnacles

wide snowflakes & shifting window light

    15.

    the day undergoes its metamorphosis

    binary Lamplight flicks to 1

    there is a magic you
