Reviews for Do It Yourself Dog toys
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The title of this book is a bit deceptive. While there is a tiny section at the end about DIY collar/leashes/toys, the vast majority of the book was just an overview of things you may need as a dog owner (including different types of food??). I was expecting to get more innotive ideas for diy dog toys but was greatly disappointed. It would also have been nice to have had pictures for the few diys that were present.

Do It Yourself Dog toys - Roland Berger
What awaits you in this book?
Surely you know as a dog owner the deep feeling of attachment to this animal. Every day we do our best to make our dogs' time here on earth as beautiful as it can be. What is difficult to understand for many outsiders, expresses itself for dog owners in feelings of intimate friendship and care for their dog. Do you enjoy spending money on quality food for your dog? Do you keep all your vet appointments? Do you enjoy spending time with your dog in outdoor activities and do you value good and appropriate dog training?
Then you may still have one or two question marks in your head. The wide range of dog accessories is often unmanageably large. Pet stores, or even the Internet give you a variety of options, what accessories you can buy for your dog. Depending on your intention, you will find a wide range of products from which you have to choose the right one. Often (prospective) dog owners even feel completely overwhelmed by the wide variety of offers. Especially when we are preparing for the first dog in our lives, we naturally want to do everything right. Now it's a matter of keeping track and finding out exactly what is needed and what the dog needs to find a happy and species-appropriate life in your home. Are you thinking about making your own collar and leash for your dog? Do you like to be creative and love individuality? Is it important to you to travel safely with your dog?
No matter what drives you, this book will help you get an overview of common dog accessories and familiarize you with the different options. For creative plans, this book also includes detailed instructions for creating and making various accessories yourself. So you can enjoy your passion and joy for your dog to the fullest.
The dog: faithful soul at your side
"A dog decides once for the rest of his life.
He doesn't ask himself if he really wants to grow old with us.
He just does.
His love, once we have earned it, is absolute."
With this quote from Picasso we begin the chapter about man's best friend. These words, chosen by Picasso, once again illustrate the priority that the bond with a dog can have for us humans. But what do the lines actually mean?
If we look at humanity, you will find that relationships and bonds between people are often short-lived. People change, reorient themselves and relationships are questioned. If we now look at the bond between a dog and his
human, we find that this relationship (at least for the dog) can be a lifelong story. Dogs are loyal and constant partners. In nature they live in packs with several animals together, in which each animal has its position. It is important for dogs to be able to follow a pack leader. It gives them orientation and security. When they bond with a human, this bond has a deep and close structure. Dogs want to follow us and stay by our side for the rest of their lives. They want to experience the moment together with us. To you, your dog may be your best friend, but to your dog, you are his world. You are what he loves and what he is happy about every day. Although the cat has now overtaken the dog on the popularity scale in Germany, the dog is still the pet that brings joy to a large number of people every day. Be it privately or also in professional regard, dogs are not to be thought away from the life of mankind any more. Due to their competent characteristics in terms of character, senses and movements, they are a reliable partner for police, agricultural protection for farm animals, people with visual impairments or diabetes and also in the rescue service, dogs as an important support can no longer be imagined without. So it's not surprising why a wide range of products can now also be found in terms of accessories for dogs. Pretty much everything your heart desires can be found in the appropriate specialty stores or on the Internet. If you are looking for something specific, you will certainly find it. So that you can keep a clear head and find your way through the jungle
of accessories, we look in the following chapters, what there is everything and in which areas the appropriate accessories can be used.
Education and training
Before acquiring a dog, we naturally also think about how to keep and care for it as species-appropriate as possible. The Animal Welfare Act clearly states that we humans must ensure that an animal is kept as species-appropriate as possible and that we protect its well-being. This also includes training a dog according to its natural instincts. Dogs that are completely untrained and free
in society can ultimately also be a danger. We must not forget that dogs are animals and as such have completely different instincts than we humans. Therefore, a professionally supervised and species-appropriate education and training is an important basis for the dog-human relationship. What accessories can support your dog and you specifically for this, we now look together:
Clicker
A clicker is a small, manually controlled device that makes a click
sound when activated. This device is used in the so-called clicker training. This is a training method, which aims to signal animals with this intense sound, in conjunction with a reward (treat), that a behavior is desired or correct. It should serve as positive reinforcement, so to speak. Clicking" requires a very precise and exact reaction from the human. Only if we give the dog in exactly this desired situation immediately the feedback, he will store this and will strive on the basis of the reward to repeat exactly this behavior. A clicker therefore serves to give the dog a clear signal, also acoustically, which behavior is desired. Whether the use of a clicker is suitable for your dog and you,
