    Summary

    INTRODUCTION

India’s Golden Age, its Glories and Achievements

India had its own ups and downs with its history well known throughout the world before and after the Colonial period. It was called the Land of Gold, where its rivers known by the inhabitants (or local people) were flowing with milk and honey. India commanded tremendous prestige and respect among the civilized countries of the world. It had its own inventions and discoveries made by its own people, without anybody’s help or foreign aid or collaboration from any other country.

Technology would not exist without mathematics in the modern world today. In ancient civilization the digits 0.9 were all invented by India. Telephones, television, VCR, aircraft, ships, would not exist without mathematics (and zero is required). Without the zero, maths would not have survived.

The great Saints, scientists, authors and leaders generally were born in this country and have given glory and pride to the name of the nation.

India has given a lot to the West in terms of spiritual values and medicine even in today’s modern era of communication stretching from Earth to space or the planet Mars.

Whatever has been achieved by western countries like USA or USSR has been proved thousands of years ago by India. For example, aircraft invention was taken from the epic of Mahabharata, when gods used to fly on birds from one place to another.

Torpedoes, used to sink submarines, were taken from pointed arrows with fire when there was battle between RAM and RAWANA, an epic from Ramayana (ancient religious books of Hinduism).

The traditional Indian art of baby massage (birth without violence) i.e., homeopathy and ancient medicine, are now well recognized in the West.

Indian arts, culture, crafts, sculpture, Aryuvedic medicine, Indian dance (Kathak), martial movements, meditation, as well as Indian technology, are already well documented in BBC 2 series programmes.

Vegetarianism and the growth of vegetarian food is gathering momentum in the West. Mysteries and myths about other planets, people visiting Earth from other planets, the X Files (a programme made in America), coincide well with ancient Indian priests, philosophers, authors and poets, etc.

The arts and crafts, complementary therapies (e.g.: Aromatherapy, Positive Thinking, Physical Fitness, Yoga) were all first invented by India and spread throughout the world. Even in the field of engineering and architectural construction, India built monuments like the Taj Mahal which, built of pure marble, is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

From ancient rulers such as Akbar, Maharajah Ranjit Singh, Rana Pratap, Tipu Sultan, Shah Jahan to Rajiv Gandhi, India has made progress in all fields; technology, computerization, Bangalore (Silicone Valley of India), news media satellites, etc. even to the remoter parts of the Valley of India where it is now possible to access the World News.

India has also been gifted by nature with its rivers, mountains (Himalayas) and the four seasons of spring, autumn, winter and summer. It has vast natural coasts of seas – Kerala, Madras, Calcutta, and Kutch. During winter it is cold and icy in northern parts of India and so one can enjoy all sorts of weather.

From ancient times to modern times India is well known for its great writers and authors. India had its own universities during it ancient period. The universities like Nalanda and Taxilla were great centres of learning. Students from foreign countries enrolled in these institutions for higher studies and many eminent scholars used to teach in them. India had a golden age in the time of the Imperial Gupta.

During the Gupta period several Hindu colonies were founded in Java, Sumatra and Cambodia. The Hindu merchants and missionaries sailed across and established colonies in these places.

This was a new venture which substantially enhanced the goodwill and prestige of Indian obviously, the Hindu cultural activities gradually becoming deep-rooted in the new colonies, the remnants of which are still visible in many countries in the Far East.

Relying on all this evidence, it can be safely concluded that the Gupta period brought a renaissance in the field of political, social, economic and cultural life of India. It is therefore aptly said that the Gupta period was the Golden Age of Hinduism or the Golden Age of Indian history.

It is rightly compared with the age of Pericles in the Greek history or Elizabethan age of British history: Political unity and nationalism, enlightened character of government, Peace and prosperity.

An ideal type of life, Revival of Hinduism, Religious tolerance, literary development, Advancement of science, Advancement of fine arts, Advancement of education and learning, Trade and commerce, an age of Hindu imperialism.

The beautiful Indian sculptures, arts, designs and monuments are still prevalent in the modern books. With the rising population from British Raj to Rajiv, India has achieved much in the field of engineering, architecture, manufacture of cars, textiles, foodstuffs, etc. and exporting to the West, whereas once upon a time the West had the monopoly.

Gold, jewellery, ornaments. Iron, steel and oil are found in India and it is only because of poor leadership and management that the wealth of the nation is not evenly distributed, falling victim to corrupt policies that have ruined the very nature of its network.

As the world is becoming smaller day by day, i.e., the Global village, everyday stresses of life in terms of time, energy, and money getting out of control, humanity has no say in society.

There was always a clash between Good and Evil throughout the whole country but now the percentage of more Evil has taken over from more Good, e.g., wars, religions, food shortages, water crises, floods, destruction, forest fires, earthquakes, animal killings, environmental disasters and millions and millions of dollars worth of damage.

Where is it going to lead or end? When is it going to be the end of the world? It is a question mark and a mystery.

India has tried to warn the West through its books (Mahabharata, Ramayana, Krishna, etc) about the concept of humanity, live and let live, protect nature, protect the environment, protect animals, protect trees, protect water and the seas, but the warning has been ignored by the West and even by its own people in India with fanatical and religious groups with selfish monetary views. In this crazy modern world there is a shortage of food and fuel in rich nations like USA, Japan or Germany (e.g.: in case of war in the Middle East) that is a reality no one can hide.

The poor people, labourers, farmers, etc. have to take the burden of the mighty rich, powerful and influential people, who are only interested in their own selfish motives.

We are in a vicious circle. The rich nations of the world are trying to make poor nations poorer and the national leaders of the poor countries are trying to make poor people poorer than they were before. There is no justice or rule of respect to the ordinary people

There is fear and anxiety all over the world. Money has taken over respect, health, happiness, family values, brotherhood and oneness; People are becoming more selfish, greedy, violent and destructive by nature day by day.

Now there are more health hazards than there were before. All over the world people are suffering from major diseases, illnesses, stress, changes in their behavioural patterns, etc. Health and fitness have become first priority in today’s western world.

There is a great deal of research going on in western countries like the United Kingdom, USA or Germany to do with ancient medicine, herbal, organic, Aryuvedic or homeopathic, which were first used in India.

The concept of oneness, brotherhood, family values, good neighbours and cordial relations between the nations and countries of the world is deteriorating day by day. World instability, internal and external, will ruin everybody’s life on this planet.

An ancient Indian philosophy of peace, progress and prosperity clashes with modern world full of vices, crimes and corruption. For example, hunger, starvation, natural disasters, floods, loss of human life, loss of property, etc. Nobody seems to care about anybody else.

In the distant past people were quite happy, prosperous and healthy but now even in this modern age there are poor and suppressed people in rich countries as well as in poor countries. The countries of the world know this problem but are turning a blind eye and keeping a deaf ear.

India’s recent historical experience and development have been remarkable. Events on the sub Continent have been significant, not least for those whose India now numbers between 800 and 900 million.

They concern us all because they mirror many of the critical issues facing the whole world of the late twentieth century - a world marked by increasing interaction of people and continents, wracked by political and social turbulence within nations and major international conflicts, yet a world concerned with the dignity of human life and worth of the Earth’s resources.

India also reflects many of the forces that have created this world. For example, it was the first non white nation to emerge from Colonial control, and its independence from Britain in 1947 undermined the whole fabric of the British Empire, which had dominated world affairs in the preceding decades. Standing at a sensitive juncture of the Middle East, Europe and Asia, it has not only retained its territorial integrity, but has, in contrast to most African ex colonies, proved stable.

Moreover, it has become adept at organizing its government and politics through democratic institutions and a civil service built, somewhat ironically, on foundations left by its imperial rulers.

Yet it has still to solve major economic and human problems as its population soars and the fabric of its political, social and economic infrastructure creaks and threatens to crack as it is sorely strained in an environment of scarcity, social conflicts and political scandals of its ministry.

After more than 2,000 years, the spiritual wealth and great wisdom of the ‘Bhagvad Gita’ are by no means exhausted. This discourse between Lord Krishna and hesitating warrior Arjuna on the battlefield of his family’s feud, continues to be one of the most popular and interesting of sacred books in both the East and the West.

India has great respect for all religions and each of them has given something important to the world.

What made them grow and survive? With Hinduism it has been spiritual, with Islam it has been brotherhood and Christianity and service to one’s fellowman.

But in our day no religion can remain a potent force if it emphasises one of these aspects at the expense of another. If you take water out of a block of ice, what remains? Block or nothing. So, Christianity must regain spirituality, and Hinduism the ideal of service to man, if they are to survive.

All this relate to world unity, oneness, peace, progress and prosperity. All the problems of the modern world on a day to day basis can be solved by mutual understanding, respect and sensitivity of its nature of any kind by putting aside any differences with a prime move to resolve them once and for all.

Today, the nuclear race has gone far beyond control among the nuclear countries. India is alone amongst these countries with its insistence on complete elimination of nuclear arsenal and asking the nuclear powers to lay down a time limit for the complete elimination of these weapons by countries such as USA, UK, France, Germany, Japan, China, Korea and USSR. So far, no answer is forthcoming, due to the rigidity of western countries like USA and the United Kingdom.

Recently, the British government has been accused of exporting arms to some of the worst trouble spots in the world. Figures compiled by pressure group Safe world claim that 2,181 export licenses have been granted to 35 countries of concern in the past year.

Some 535 licences granted to India were bombs, missiles, combat aircraft and riot control agents, it has been said. The government said each case was dealt with on merit – not destination. (While G7 summit leaders like USA and the UK are talking about Safe world, double standards have been applied by the West. Nobody can trust the West; they are still doing the same old things from before the First and Second World Wars.)

By neglecting basic issues like environment, pollution and health, we are all responsible and are very backward compared to the ancient era (e.g.: the civilizations of Greece, Egypt, India, Rome, Iran, Middle East, China or Japan).

You take any civilization of an ancient period of either East or West and you will see lots of similarities in the way the people behaved and traded with each other with mutual respect and dignity.

If the necessary steps are not taken by the powerful countries of the world, such as USA, UK, USSR, then the planet with be in the grip of starvation,

Famine, forest fires, environmental disasters, and a possible Ice Age in Europe. People will be dying by the millions.

The latest developments in the West concerning their leaders, e.g.: the Clinton affair in America, the Robin Cook saga in the UK, together with arms sales to Third World countries, have raised questions about the moral issues of western countries.

The French nuclear test in the remote islands of Tahiti, and the double standards of the West in forcing Third World countries to sign the Anti Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (e.g.: India and Pakistan), is evidence of total bullying and deprivation of self defence against the security of these countries.

India has taken a firm stand in the total elimination of nuclear arsenals in the world but western countries such as the USA and the UK have chosen to ignore it.

A free world and the elimination of all chemicals from the planet Earth have been given deaf ears by the USA and other powerful nations.

As a result of the latest Stock Exchange crash, prices of shares have fallen drastically all over the world and this has been repeated again and again since 1987.

World doom and gloom, recession, unemployment, and natural disasters have been looming around for so many years. Nothing has been noticed so seriously by the western economies.

The countries that possess extraordinary cultures as well as prosperity, peace and progress, they want to single out from the map of the world. Western countries are trying every means available to wipe out the culture of the countries by their mighty business deals and collaboration with national companies within those countries.

Psychologically or mentally they mean to break the moral power of ordinary people living in the Third World countries.

They use corruption and bribery with huge amounts of dollars to try and force the Third World leaders to follow the western system of running the government. The world we live in is not perfect.

It’s upside down. Who to trust or put a faith has become a question mark. We do not leave in a safety environment which is otherwise portrayed through news media, channels, magazines and the newspapers.

A glamorous and hypocritical with lots of fantasy type is presented in present times. Lives of billions of people are getting more and more complex, and there is no end to it.

World dominance to certain parts of the countries to have stronghold by any means political, dirty games and bribery by so called western super powers has gone messy.

Whatever good things are happening in the East, they envy it. They cannot see it so therefore they want to break it by every means possible. Supplying arms to terrorist groups, supporting military regimes – whatever is in their favour in terms of monetary gain or diplomatic relations they will do, and try to support some leaders for their own selfish motives (e.g.: oil, supporting Arabs, creation of Israel).

The Falklands War for minerals, war with Saddam Hussein, the breaking up of the mighty USSR, the undisputed Kashmir Valle – what does it all mean? The true facts are now well known by all countries of the world. They do not promote peace but, on the contrary, hostility among nations.

Sometimes the use of economic sanctions against countries like India and Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya and many other third world nations is a prime example of using excessive power through the United Nations by the USA and can only be seen as a bullying and threatening attitude towards Third World countries.

The whole world is engulfed on the fires of War. People all over the countries are tired, frustrated and unhappy on all occasions due to various factors affecting them like poverty, lack of sanitation, impure air, pollution, environmental changes, unpredictable weather, and adulteration in food and mad wagon of capitalist society.

Life without fear is not possible. It looks a world in not a happy place to live or survive. The picture all around the world is very gloomy in terms of happiness and health wise. Ever going scientific and technological growth masses of the world have become slave to machines as for example mobile phone, internet and many other gadgets.

Shopping has become easy with new trends by ordering by online and internet. We have comforts and luxuries but no peace of mind. This is the tragedy of modern living. Human beings living on this planet have multiplied fears by their own selfish mistakes and everybody has to take a brunt out of it.

The evils of terrorism, racism and wars in all countries of the world have contributed great sufferings on common masses with loss of lives and financial ruin which is a very sad thing happening in this modern times. We are not safe anywhere, on land, air and sea.

There is always a fear of terrorists striking at any time, any place and any part of the world. Whoever is at wrong place, time has to suffer consequences with sad reality. There is no place to hide.

We become suspicious, overconcious, alert and paranoid. We do not trust each other. Trust has gone out of window. Whom to trust or not? There is always fear and anxiety. Terrorism give rise to racism or fanaticism and can spread hatred among each other as a result of it.

People can be divided on ethnic, religious, colour, cultural background and nationality. There is no end to it. This type of behaviour pattern set by any government can encourage racism and fanaticism to a high proportion if it is not checked by the governments of the world.

We are so ignorant of each other in many ways of other cultural, religions and other nation’s traditions that our understanding, ignorance comes not from hate but from fear.

Who is going to change the world? Which country is coming for rescue? Which leader, philosopher and socialist person is going to stop the miseries laid on common masses of the planet?

Whether the solution lies with Asian eastern philosophy, traditions and cultures? Who to approach Western super powers like U.S.A., U.K. Russia or European Union? There are many questions being asked who is going to resolve this mess.

When, Where and Which Time, month, date and the year. Would it be a political, military, civilian or socialist solution it will be a complete mystery as the today’s world standing.

All the issues affecting mankind has become on Global problem. No country is safe, we all under danger level. The leaders of the world should anticipate and try to think how to make the safer world without human tragedies to eliminate all the levels and prevent further calamities, environment disasters, murders, rape, wars, terrorism, communal clashes and racism.

Any where or any part you are residing in any country whenever you open morning newspapers or watch TV there is always a bad news about child abuse, kidnapping, murder, ethnic violence, woman being raped, injustice, discrimination, poverty and environment damage.

This kind of tragedies has almost affected billions of lives on this planet. This is what we have achieved and gained in many years. We define this way What a MAN is. Is a Monster or Demy God?

We should follow the examples set by Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and Abraham Lincoln. Have we learned anything from the past history and the horrible events which took place in this world? We all are guilty and villains of the planet earth.

All the Politicians of the world take a look at Indian Religious Books, history and good preaching’s, guidance about how to be perfect and live like a decent human being, it has given lot of lessons and teachings to the whole world about maintenance of trees, looking after rivers, oceans and controlling all the vices in the minds of human being.

    CHAPTER ONE

    RACISM

Three Children among seven dead in fire

Police are treating as murder a house fire in which seven people died, including three young children.

Police have taken away a petrol can found at the scene of the blaze in Chingford, north-east London. The victims were two four-year old twin girls, a two-year-old boy, their father, grandmother and great grandmother, and a family friend. One man, believed to be their great grandfather, escaped using a ladder.

Today, racism is a thriving industry in the west, e.g.: the UK, the USA and Europe. Everywhere one looks there is evidence of injustice as a result of this.

The football coach, Glen Hoddle, was sacked because he made remarks about reincarnation and his reported belief that disabled people are being punished for their sins in a previous life.

Despite the fact that over 160,000 Indian soldiers fought in the First World War, their contribution to the war effort has not been recognized by the UK Government. They are, and will probably remain, the forgotten heroes.

Missionaries are pumping in millions of dollars and sending trained workers to Indian to exterminate Hinduism, criticising the role of the media that the murder of a foreign missionary in India is played up to the hilt, and an orchestrated campaign has been launched as though Hindus are on a Christian killing spree.

The media were totally silent, however, when fifty Christians were killed in Indonesia. Black-attended churches are routinely burnt down by whites in the USA. The missionaries are not simpletons but are very clever in that by their actions they divide communities and instigate on against the other in order to create chaos.
