Conclusion
Introduction
I know God, but do I know God? The question could be asked, I know God—as in, I have accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior; but do I know God—as in, who He is and how that relates to me personally?
On the other hand, the question could be asked, I know God—as in, I know all about who He is; but do I know God—as in, have I accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior?
I remember a song that was sung at many of the revival services I attended as a child. It said, You may know a lot about Him, but do you really know Him?
How sad it would be for someone to read God’s Word and to know who God is, but never know Him as his or her personal Lord and Savior.
I grew up in a Christian home. I have attended church faithfully all my life. I have attended Sunday school, Christian school, and a Christian college. I have even worked in the ministry. Though none of these things could ever save me, one would probably think, knowing my background, that I do not only know Him as my personal Lord and Savior but that I should know a lot about God and who He is to me personally. At the young age of twelve, I asked Jesus to save me, and I know that He did. I have never battled with assurance of my salvation. However, through the trials and tribulations of my life, I must admit that, although I know Him as my personal Lord and Savior, I have not always acknowledged the truth about who He is to me personally.
Viewing God through the circumstances of life will always lead you to a false understanding of who God is entirely. It is through the precious promises that God gives to us in His Holy Word, where we can truly learn of who God is to us personally. The more we get to know Him, the more precious He becomes to us on a personal level.
It may be somewhat difficult to understand. You see, I could write out all the attributes—or characteristics—of God and have a head knowledge of what those attributes are, but there have been times in my life when I have not really believed them to be true or personally applied them to my life. When you truly put God first in your life, allow Him to organize and prioritize your life according to His standards, and you experience the sweetness of walking with Him and spending time with Him in prayer, the Christian life becomes something entirely different. Salvation is so much more than just a ticket into heaven. To truly live a victorious and fulfilled Christian life, one must also know God!
Section 1:
How Do I Know God?
This book is primarily intended for believers. It is my desire to help Christians fully embrace their personal relationships with God and get to know God on a more personal level while still here on this earth. However, if you do not Know God as your personal Lord and Savior, a relationship with Him cannot and will not ever exist. May I take a moment and share with you how you can know, for sure, that you know God as your personal Lord and Savior?
Experiencing salvation for yourself is easiest put into three biblical truths. I often hear them referred to as the ABCs of salvation:
1. You must admit that you are lost and in need of a
