After the birth of their two children, she had new inspiration for her stories and decided to try publishing a few of her favorites. This is the first of her published works, done with the assistance of her husband, Rae who is her best friend. The illustrations were done by her mother, Judy Doudoukjian and her son, James.

Reviews for My Name Isn't Joe
3 ratings1 review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I heard about this book on social media and then read the reviews on it. Several reviews mentioned it being 'an emotional rollercoaster'. I've heard that phrase before and ended up disappointed by the book. But that didn't happen here! Honestly, one minute was LMAO next minute I was contemplating life, then I'm in tears and then I'm laughing again. The last time I felt so many emotions from a book was years ago when I first read The Woman in White. But My Name Isn't Joe was just more amplified. The comdey in it wasn't slapstick, it was very witty. Some of it was silly but it all made me laugh and it's not a comedy, for me that was what made this book so different and special. I'm not a big crier unless I'm in pain but there was one chapter that made me cry in public, and I haven't done that in years.
The basic storyline follows the life of Joseph Bogart, your Mr average guy living an average life. On his way home from his average job he sees something that scraes him and shakes him deeply (this was one of the parts that got me emotional) and makes him question what he's doing with his life. I can't say much more unless I throw in spoilers and I don't want to do that. I will say that as soon Aaron arrived I couldn't put the book down. I loved Aaron. Every scene he's in is magic!
For me, My Name Isn't Joe touched on the emotional ups and downs of life in a very modern relatable and deep way. I thought I knew alot about loneliness and depression, especially since lockdown but this really opened my eyes. And I learned a lot about men as well. The men in my life don't talk that much and now I think I know a little bit better why. I've already started reading again a lot slower with a highlighter pen for my fav bits.
I can't recommend this book enough.
