About this ebook

BLOOD OF THE IMAGINED: SHORT STORIES by Rayna Scott features:
“Spiraling into Insanity,” follows a pre-teen Rayna as she navigates through her school day. She rides an ordinary bus and attends an average middle school, but during her first-hour class, she is yanked into her own mind, plummeting into the darkness of her subconsciousness where she is confronted by her other personalities.
“Change,” suggests that Rayna adapts to her new norm, by the telling of the story of Dorian, the alpha male of the black wolves. Dorian faces a challenger that represents the evolution of his home. Fear overtakes Dorian, due to his opponent's overwhelming strength, and at the risk of losing his very life, he must decide to change.
“New Identity,” suggests that Rayna has now embraced who she is by the telling of the struggles of Koa, a half arachnid half-human girl living in a foreign country. A normal girl turned monster by her government, Koa flees to the country of Igoine, hoping to find out who and what she now is.
“BOTI: Friend Turned Foe,” represents Scott’s full induction into her new world. The short story follows the Zodiac children as they attempt to help their brother, Pisces, control his ability to raise and control the dead.

    About This Collection

The stories in Blood of the Imagined: Short Stories tie into each other in a way that explains the journey I took as an author. The titles of each story represent phases I went through personally. The stories themselves, introduce new characters and lands that appeared in my new world as I explored it further. This collection is a preface for the actual Blood of the Imagined series that fully explores Igoine and its characters through storytelling. I hope you enjoy your journey into Igoine.

    Spiraling into Insanity

Rain droplets glide down the misty bus window. The droplets race each other to the bottom to escape the raging tempest. The deluge masks the windows and bombards the roof with various attacks. As if not noticing the weather, the other students chat mindlessly. Each bus seat houses three students, all of them packed into the brown leather seating like sardines. I sit alone in the middle of the bus near the emergency exit. My eyes catch a glimpse of a group of raindrops sliding down my window. The raindrops stream down to the bottom, leaving one raindrop alone. It trails behind them, never seeming to catch up. Before the lone droplet can make it to the bottom, it’s swept away by a gale. My gaze is fixed on the spot where it was blown away. Suddenly, the bus screeches to a halt. The double doors swing open and the students flow out of the bus. I grip my umbrella and follow the flow of tweens into the storm. I flip open my umbrella
