About this ebook

Which side of the barbed wire prison fences are the bad guys? Likewise, on the outside of those fences who are the good guys? This is an insightful true story of how a rag-tag minimum security prison slow pitch softball team in the Blue Ridge Mountains entered into a small city softball league as an experiment into integrating inmates back into the community and how these unseemly men persevered, triumphed and won the respect and acceptance of the whole community: always remembering: “…There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Romans 3:10).

    Introduction

Not long ago a father and mother called their two children, ages twelve and ten, in for a serious talk: Your mother and I have decided it is time to talk to the two of you about your lack of worldly insight. He paused to see if the boy and girl were paying the required attention needed for this discussion: He then continued, We’ve noticed for a long time now that neither of you have ever lied to us; nor stolen anything; and we suspect you have never cheated anyone. Most of all, we have noticed you haven’t rebelled or even ever been angry towards us or anyone else.

The father most seriously continued: Therefore, your mother and I have decided tomorrow she will take you to the library to get some books that will teach you how to lie; how to steal, cheat and most of all how to rebel: or at least how to get angry.

Oh, those would be on the self-help aisle, answered the librarian satisfactorily. However, the mother could not find any books that would help in teaching the
