About this ebook
Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Book Preview:
#1 There is a five-paragraph introduction to Vonnegut’s advice series. He suggests that you find a subject you care about and which you in your heart feel others should care about. It is this genuine caring, and not your games with language, which will be the most compelling and seductive element in your style.
#2 The author’s father had a list of criteria for when he thought a letter was successful. The letter had to be serious, but it could be written in a playful manner.
#3 I will observe the following minor amenities: I will hang up my clothes and put my shoes in the closet when I am not wearing them, I will not track dirt into the house needlessly, and I will throw such things as used up match folders, empty cigarette packages, and the piece of cardboard that comes in shirt collars into a wastebasket instead of leaving them around on chairs and the floor.
#4 You must care enough about something to write well about it. You must be willing to put in the time and effort to write well about it.
