He was loud, flashy, liked the spotlight, boasted about how many people he had killed and, for a price, was available to kill again.

All of which made assassin-for-hire Christopher Flannery a dangerous man. In a game requiring discretion, Flannery played by his own rules, enjoying the notoriety that came with his nickname ‘Mr Rent-a-Kill’.

That was until 35 years ago when Flannery, 37, disappeared, and has never been seen since. His life has been dramatised twice for TV – and – and in the history of Australian true crime, his death continues to hold an endless fascination.
