Do you have your single sock?

Mandy’s bleary eyes read the text message three times and still couldn’t make sense of it. Samuel Gordon, the owner and head baker at DelKitty Bakery, often sent her weird messages, but this one took the proverbial cake, and at seven in the morning no less.

Samuel had no doubt been up for hours, but Mandy didn’t have to get up early to make bread and donuts for the sleepy citizens of Holiday Beach, Florida. She’d barely had time to turn off her alarm before her phone rang with Samuel’s text.

The siren of sleep still sung loudly in Mandy’s ears, so instead of wasting brainpower puzzling out the cryptic text, she called him.

Good morning! Samuel sounded unusually chipper. I’ve got the coffin cupcakes done and I’m frosting the dryer donuts now. Next up are the gravestone cinnamon rolls.

Mandy pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at it, dumbfounded. What was he talking about?
