About this ebook

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Book Preview:

#1 The saga of Sam Giancana, its social and historical significance aside, would never have reached a single reader without the enthusiasm of our literary agent, Frank Weimann. We are indebted to him for his efforts and friendship.

#2 Double Cross is a biography of Sam Giancana, who was the head of the Chicago mob, and his impact on national and global affairs. It is a sordid and difficult legacy, and one that we did not choose. We hope that after reading the book, the reader will not find those bearing the Giancana name guilty by association with Sam.

#3 The reader may be able to change America’s future after reading this book. They will realize that the ultimate double cross was not perpetrated against one individual, but was committed against the people of this nation and the citizens of the world.

#4 On June 19, 1975, Chuck attended his brother’s wake. Hundreds of reporters, curious onlookers, FBI agents, and police officers crowded the chapel parking lot.

On June 19, 1975, Chuck attended his brother’s wake. Hundreds of reporters, curious onlookers, FBI agents, and police officers crowded the chapel parking lot.

    #5

The wake was beautiful, but Chuck felt awkward and out of place. He wanted to know who had killed his brother, and why. He’d loved Mooney more than anyone else, but he’d still hated him.

    #6

Chuck thought about his brother, Mooney, and how he had changed. He’d never seen Mooney laugh again after his wife died, until he was killed by a bastard.

    #7

Chuck learned that it wasn’t the Outfit that wanted Mooney dead, but he knew who did. He knew that his brother was being targeted by a more powerful ally than the Mafia: the federal government.

The tree behind the Giancana family’s flat was a symbol of different things for different members of the family. It was a gauge by which to judge time and the changing seasons for Antonio, a haven for games of hide-and-seek for Mo, and a permanent carving board displaying life’s accomplishments and passions for Antonio.

The Italian population in Chicago grew tremendously between 1890 and 1910, and they were quickly resented by the Irish and Jewish populations nearby. The Italians were slow to abandon their culture, and they were often peddlers in the Old Country.
