    Introduction

Crystal healing is a traditional lore and healing practice. My own pathway to crystal healing happened over the course of my lifetime. I first became fascinated with crystals at an early age. A kind distant relative gave me a Black Opal from Lightening Ridge, plus some polishing powders, and I was hooked. I was not the only young kid fascinated with gemstones and semi-precious stones. Fairy tales and old movies are filled with stories of gemstones and stones with extraordinary powers. These precious gifts from nature are collected and used by dragons, magicians, monarchs, and other powerful and magical beings. The healing uses of crystals were not known to me then. I was more consumed by their beauty and precious nature. At about the age of ten my father took me along to a gemstone and lapidary club. He made a tumbler for me to polish my collections, but everyone complained about the noise it made so it hardly ever ran. Now, some fifty-plus years later I have a tumbler or two running nearly continually and the rumbling sound is part of the background hum of my house.

Out of high school I continued to pursue my fascination with crystals, fossils and minerals by studying geology at university. Living the student lifestyle waylaid me for many years. I gave away or mislaid precious pieces from my personal collection while living and partying in student share houses. A little lost, my passion for collecting crystals was interrupted. I spent decades pursuing other interests and loves. My fascination never went away completely. Whenever I went anywhere, I would always look out for the geological features like folding and intrusions and try and find some nice rocks. Coming across Serpentinite at Port Macquarie was one such joy.

In the middle of 2019, my life changed again. I went into a crystal store at Byron Bay and saw a huge Celestite geode. I wanted to buy it, but the price was too much for me. I left the shop disappointed. I then went into every other crystal shop I could find in Byron Bay and along the Northern Beaches of New South Wales and in the hinterland. Waterfalls, mountains, rivers, beaches, everything shouted at me to look at the rocks and remember my passion for them. After that moment, a new idea took root in me. As soon as I got home from that wonderful holiday, I started exploring what I would need to start selling crystals at markets.

From those beginnings I have made Celeste Crystals into a store offering the widest range of beautiful crystals, fossils, minerals and stones that I can manage. Then I add even more. I like offering rarer crystals alongside favourites such as Amethyst and Rose Quartz. This guide has over 125 listings, reflecting the wide range on offer through my store.

For me, crystals, fossils and minerals will always be firstly wonderful gifts from nature. Each piece is unique and has a beauty that in my view makes them near priceless. I feel blessed to be surrounded by these gorgeous wonderful stones in my home and in my life. Their metaphysical healing properties are a surprising bonus for me. An amazing additional benefit that I now embrace, despite my sceptical science-based inclinations. Looking to crystals for additional healing help makes sense to me. You will see in my descriptions I have sentences saying that this crystal will help you with this or that. I trust you will also appreciate that crystal healing is an alternative approach to healing. I am not offering medical advice anywhere in this guide. You should always seek properly qualified medical advice whenever you are dealing with any serious health issue. Here is information of a different kind, for your consideration and own exploration.

    What are crystals?

Crystals form from mineral-bearing solutions flowing through cracks and fissures inside cooling molten rocks and surrounding rock formations. They grow with a particular structural form over time, depending on the physical conditions and composition of the mineral solution. This can be a stop-start process. The way how crystals form makes them wonderfully different to other kinds of rocks.

Crystals possess particular qualities due to their underlying crystalline structure, which reflects the arrangements of the atoms and molecules making up the crystal. The physical properties of crystals include the piezoelectric effect. This is their capacity to hold or release electrical charges in response to mechanical force.

Crystals have been formed through the fundamental forces of creation that underlie all existence, in overlapping physical and metaphysical planes. The crystal’s formation is influenced by the electrical and energetic environment of their formation. This includes the energy fields of Earth and our planet’s place in all creation. As sentient and energetic beings, we too are intrinsically connected to creation. This connection with creation is our energetic bridge for crystal healing. When the energetic field of a crystal intersects the vibration and energy patterns of your aura, it brings about subtle changes in your aura. This change is part of the crystal healing process, brought about by the properties of that crystal. Crystals do no harm to the body. The changes though can be noticeable and even uncomfortable, particularly when they are bringing on a cleansing process. A healer, applying their knowledge and intuition, can promote crystal healing through careful selection and by programming crystals with intentions and affirmations
