About this ebook
Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Book Preview:
#1 I have been mudlarking for years, searching for treasure in the Thames near London Bridge. I am obsessed with the river’s ebb and flow, and I know where the river allows me access early and where I can stay for the longest time before I am gently but firmly shooed away.
#2 I have been studying the tide tables for so long that they have become second nature. I never look at the high-water levels, but I know that a good low tide of 0. 5 meters and below will expose a decent amount of foraging space.
#3 The tides in London allow us to access the river's contents, which change as the water ebbs and flows. It is the tiniest of objects that tell the greatest stories.

Insights from Chapter 2
#1
The stretch of the Thames between Richmond and Teddington is controlled by the lock at Teddington, which artificially ends the tidal Thames. The tide hasn’t always turned this far west. In the first century AD, it turned where the Romans built their bridge, near to where London Bridge is today.
#2
The Middlesex side of the river is where people play on the water. It is beautiful, but lacks the pace and ferocity of the river as it flows through the city and away to the sea.
#3
I loved rivers on the farm, and they have become my most enduring passion. I knew every inch of the river there, from the bends that caught rubbish to the shallow areas where I could wade across without flooding my wellington boots.
#4
The opposite bank seemed even more rural and I wondered if I should have taken that route. The houses had gone, and there were green open spaces, parks, and woodland. According to the map on my phone, I should
