Scientists in Japan are working day and night to find the source of a 300-year-old mummy.
The head of the mummy is like Monkey. The lower part of the body is like the tail of a fish.
The mummy was kept in a box at a temple in the town of Asakuchi, according to the Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimban. Next to the mummy was a letter.
The letter states that the animal was caught in a fisherman's net near Shikaku Island in the Pacific Ocean between 1838 and 1841.
In Japanese folklore, mermaids are famous for their immortality. It is said that if anyone eats the flesh of these mermaids, he will attain immortality.
In some places, folklore has it that a woman accidentally ate mermaid meat," he said. She lived to be about 800 years old. Is it really true?
