Movies of the mind
produced by a man with shades
who sits on a folding chair and yells cut
more than he needs to.
Some are projected with a twisting reel
onto the wall of imagined thoughts
where a safe – maybe even happy – ending is discernable
through the binoculars of a stretched-out hope
appearing nearby, in reality far from it.
Departing the theatre, his feet land
on kernels of wisdom, dropped from popcorn bags
of the phantom audience who frequent his show
and now he’s just a deer caught
in the headlights of one
horrible thought:
this film, it is false
a script of delusion
a trap of
