The Underground Horror House - Kim Oakshott

It was a year ago to this day that the suspicious story of the underground horror house came to light when Kitty and her friends found it. It was in the woods on the edge of town and no one would go near. Even the cars drove really fast at night time because they were scared of the things that had happened. It was true that in the end, Kitty suffered loss, but she also found her true love.

Let us start from the beginning. It was June 2005 in a town called Skydale. Skydale is a small town with one pub and a few small shops. But there was a very long road running through it which went to another big town called Thounbury ten miles away from Skydale. On either side of this road was very, very thick woodland, however, there was a petrol station in the middle of the woods halfway between Skydale and Thounbury. This petrol station was known for its killings at night time.

The story goes that a man with an axe comes out of the wood with an old lady in their car and they park up at the petrol station and wait for their next victim. The old lady would use her car as bait, parking it in the darkest part of the car park near the woods. The man with the axe would hide in the undergrowth and then jump out at the people who are helping her with her shopping or can of fuel. He would strike them in the back with the axe, then put them in the boot of the car and they would drive off out of the petrol station, down the road a few miles towards Thounbury then turn into the woods never to been seen again. People say that they come from the underground house as they have been seen driving towards it. Someone actually followed them but got away at the last minute by running the axe man over with their car.

The underground horror house only rises up from the ground when the sun goes down and goes back down when the sun comes up. I know it sounds really mad, but some people who wanted to see if it was true or not have seen this happen. They went looking for it and found a fallen tree on the hill that looks down over the underground horror house, which lies in a hole which is covered over with trees on top of it. As the house started to come up, they got away before they were seen by the man with the axe and the old lady as they emerged from the house. Kitty and her friends wanted to go and see if it was real because this story has been going around for so many years and it’s been passed down through the generations, so they wanted to see it for themselves.

Let me introduce you to the main characters:

There is Kitty, 5ft 1 with long brown hair, brown eyes, not fat or thin, white-skinned and scared of everything.

Lucy is 5ft 5 with black skin, long dark hair and brown eyes. She is thin and very pretty and a girl you do not mess with.

Sam is 6ft with white skin, a muscular build but with no hair on his head. He is very funny and really good-looking.

Leon is 5ft 10 with black skin and black hair. He is muscular and a nerd, but he is so hot with his glasses on.

Last but not least is Ben. He’s white-skinned with thin blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5ft 5 and he’s really fast on his feet like Speedy Gonzales.

Anyway, this is how the story goes.

Kitty lives in Skydale but her college is in Thounbury. Her best friend Lucy goes to the same college, so she drives down that road every day. Kitty gets the bus or her dad takes her, but Lucy does take Kitty back home because they live in the same town, Skydale, a few miles away from each other. Skydale measures six miles right the way round the whole village so it’s small; only about three hundred people live there. It’s more farmland than anything really. But what Lucy doesn’t know is that Kitty is taking her driving test tomorrow so she can drive herself to college.

As Kitty’s dad was driving Kitty to college one day, they saw this car on the side of the road. The police were looking around it. It was upside down and looked in a very bad way, all smashed in at the front and it had been abandoned. Strangely, a few months ago, the same thing had happened but to a different car. Dad just looked at Kitty and then looked back at the road and drove on. When they pulled into the college car park, Lucy was standing by her car. It was an Acutra NSX in purple and she loved this car like it was her baby. Dad pulled up next to her and Kitty got out.

    See you later, said Dad.

Kitty turned to Dad and said, No, you won’t. Lucy is dropping me back home, Dad.

Oh yes, I forgot. Have a good day at school, Kitty, said Dad as he drove off.

    College, Dad. College, said Kitty.

Lucy was smiling at Kitty and trying to be quiet.

Don’t. Don’t say a word, said Kitty as she walked past Lucy.

Oh, come on, I think he’s just winding you up, said Lucy.

She linked her arm through Kitty’s and they both walked to their first lesson which was English. As Kitty and Lucy walked into the classroom, their teacher was sitting down at his desk. Mr Carter was his name.

Mr Carter was 5ft 11, fat with no hair on his head. He had blue eyes, wore glasses and looked very moody.

You are late, girls, said Mr Carter.

Really sorry, sir, said Kitty. Lucy and Kitty went to sit down at the back of the classroom and Mr Carter got up and started to hand out English books about Shakespeare’s life.

Right, open your books, read pages one to five and write down and explain what they are doing. Oh, and I want your homework in from last week as well, said Mr Carter.

Oh crap! I forgot my homework, said Lucy.

Oh, you are in for it now, said Kitty.

You can say that again. I never even started it, said Lucy.

Oh well, you’ve got to stay behind then, said Kitty.

Yes, yes, don’t rub it in. I can’t drop you home, said Lucy.

Damn it! I’m going to have to call my dad, aren’t I? said Kitty. Lucy was nodding her head at her.

It was getting towards the end of the lesson. Kitty, said Mr Carter. Yes, sir? said Kitty.

Can you go round and get everyone’s homework, please, and put it on my desk?

So, Kitty gathered up everyone’s homework, put it down on Mr Carter’s desk and went to sit back down. As Mr Carter was going through the homework, he looked up and said, Lucy Loom, where is your homework? Lucy looked up in horror at Mr Carter.

Er, er, the dog used it as the loo, sir, said Lucy.

Mr Carter got up from behind his desk and walked over to Lucy. At this point, everyone was laughing at her. Mr Carter leant on the desk where Lucy and Kitty were.

Mr Carter looked at Lucy. I suppose you are going to say the dog ate your homework and then pooed it back out again or the cat used it as the loo or you spilt a cup of tea on it or your little brother used it to wipe his nose on. I’ve heard them all, Lucy, so nice try; you are not getting out of this one. See you after college, said Mr Carter.

Kitty was laughing so hard she fell off her chair onto the floor in a heap.

Kitty! Will you get up off the floor? And Lucy - you are staying behind after college to do last week’s homework, said Mr Carter in a mood.

Then he walked back to his desk. Lucy helped Kitty to her feet and got their bags and went to walk out, but before anyone could leave, Mr Carter said,

Hold on; forgot to say we have three new boys joining us next week. That’s all, you can go.

As Kitty and Lucy walked out of the classroom, Kitty took her mobile phone out of her hoody and rang her dad to tell him what had happened. He said he would be picking her up from the car park after college.

It was getting near the end of the day. Kitty’s dad was waiting for her in the car park as Lucy and Kitty were making their way down. Kitty turned to Lucy and said,

I will see you tomorrow afternoon and good luck. Mr Carter is there waiting for you.

Oh crap! I better go, said Lucy.

She gave Kitty a hug, then she went off with Mr Carter and Kitty got
