The english child and the dream that would come true

As a young boy, Harry Kane was rejected by Arsenal and struggled with being considered too short and too slow. Today he is the great star of Tottenham and the English team. He plays in the World Cup semi finals on Wednesday against Croatia.

He's one of us: at Tottenham, they shout it out loud and loud, but the 24-year-old London player has not exactly had an easy road to the elite, and at times it seemed impossible to fulfill his dream.

He was born in Walthamstow, 15 minutes from the 'Spurs' stadium, White Hart Lane, but before arriving there, he had a long journey, passing through Arsenal, Millwall, and Leicester, among others.

You could see early on, even though he was very young, that he hit the ball very well, David Bricknell, youth coach of the Ridgeway Rovers, a club also famous for having been one of the first springboards, recalls in a statement to AFP. for David Beckham's career.

Arsenal was the first to 'hunt' him for their ranks but then ended up rejecting him.

Kane himself explained in February, in an article for The Players Tribune website, how difficult his beginnings were.

One day, when I was eight years old, and I was going to the park with my father, he put his arm on my shoulder and said: Harry, Arsenal have fired you. I don't remember what I felt at that moment, explained the player who leads the table of scorers of this World Cup with 6 goals.

I remember my father's reaction and what he made me feel. He did not criticize me. He did not criticize Arsenal. He simply said: Don't worry, Harry. We will work harder and find another club, he said.

It was a great first blow for him. Kane had a much more complicated path from the beginning than that of other great stars of the English team, such as Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney, who progressed logically and not as chaotically as he.

Watford marked a before and after. A triplet against Tottenham convinced the club of their love, surprised by that young boy, to call him. But once again, things were not easy. When I was about fourteen, I was on the edge of not being kept in the team, former Tottenham manager Chris Ramsey told FourFourTwo magazine. He was always talented, but he was short and short players have trouble breaking through, he said.

Kane made up for his lack of physical qualities with hyper motivation. An impressive volume of work
