About this ebook

In Acts chapter 22 the Apostle Paul uses his political status as a Roman citizen to avoid being flogged. Today, pastors all across America will admit that we are now a Post Christian nation and even that the “soft” persecution becoming increasingly rampant every day bodes physical and violent persecution on the horizon, but they fail to do anything about it because all the cultural ills have been tossed into the political arena and everyone knows churches can’t talk about it if it’s political. This book dispels that lie and encourages Christians to overwhelm the gates of hell by using the political process to our advantage.

Author

R. David Stewart

R. David Stewart is not a professional preacher, minister or evangelist. He does have a public speaking background, including preaching, during his 40+ years of business experience in sales, and did serve for a number of years on the Elder Board of his church. It is from this broad perspective, and with five grandchildren, that he brings a passion to arouse the Church, both clergy and layperson, to rise up and engage in the struggle “against the rulers … against the powers of this dark world …” who have captured every commonsense idea of morality and decency in this country and who are threatening our liberties and freedom in the process. So strong is this passion that even with no previous writing experience this book has emerged. The author is a Christian, which means as folks don’t often realize, an acknowledged sinner first. He is an ordinary average person who is blessed to be a citizen of the U.S.A., a nation once perceived to be “under God” but no longer; and is deeply distressed by how this profanes God’s holy name while Churches rarely even acknowledge it much less resist it.

    PREFACE

If you’ve picked up this book it is probably because you were somehow intrigued by the title and not because you recognized a bestselling Christian or political author. So who is the author?

My father was a preacher, as was my grandfather, as was my wife Cindy’s father, as was her uncle. One of my brothers went to seminary, and the other holds a master’s degree in family counseling from a Christian university. Growing up around preachers you hear a lot of stories. You know about preacher’s stories, don’t you? They are best explained by the little girl whose father was a preacher. One day they were at a gathering where her father told a story that caused everyone to break out into hilarious laughter, but the little girl looked up at him and asked, Now, Daddy, was that a true story, or were you just preaching?

Well I don’t know if this is a true story, but it definitely is a preacher’s story. It’s about the world’s most nervous bridegroom. We were all no doubt nervous at our weddings, but this young man took the cake (no pun intended). This guy was a basket case even at the rehearsal and got worse as the time for the ceremony approached. To compound the problem, the bride had arranged a few somewhat nontraditional rituals for exchanging their vows and rings, giving him a lot of cues to remember. The simplest one was at the end of the elaborate ceremony. Instead of the traditional I now pronounce you married, husband and wife, you may kiss the bride routine, they had rehearsed that the minister would say, John, this is your wife, and this was supposed to be his cue to turn toward her and plant the traditional smoocheroo on her.

The preacher just knew this bridegroom would never successfully accomplish all this, but amazingly enough he got through the entire ceremony without a hitch. The preacher breathed a huge sigh of relief, then concluded with, John, this is your wife, and waited for him to turn toward her for the kiss. Instead, at this moment the young man froze, standing there like a deer in the headlights. Now just a few seconds in a situation like this can seem like an eternity, so the preacher quickly cued him again, whispering, John, this is your wife. The bridegroom then suddenly snapped to, but when he turned, instead of kissing her he put out his hand and said, I’m very pleased to meet you.

So for now, as regards my introduction, let me just say if you’ve picked up this book, I’m very pleased to meet you. I hope in the chapters to follow you will learn more about who this
