Acknowledgements
This book is born out of discussions with friends who realized that I had a special way to advice and support friends and family members who were stressed, had a problem, and needed a listening ear and advice in order to find a solution to their problems.
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to God Almighty who gave me the inspiration to put together this book. My gratitude goes to my wife and children, to the many people who helped me through this book, to all those that provided support, encouraged, talked things over, read, wrote, offered comments, allowed me to quote their remarks and assisted in the editing, proofreading and design.
Equally, my thanks goes to Dr. MBOME Njie Victor and Rev Pastor Mokoko Thomas, for their critical comments and inputs in relation to their various fields of work.
Special gratitude to Lartey Matike Serge, to Azore Opio and Isidore Abah for their encouragements, valuable and critical help in the preparation of the manuscript, the design, proofreading and comments.
Preface
Stress is now a major problem in many countries around the world including developing countries. With globalization, stress is no more only the issue of developed societies or of the population living in urban areas.
The current world order and the unequal redistribution of resources of the communities to cater for the needs of the local populations is a great concern and factor of stress as more and more people on this Planet Earth are living below the poverty line with insufficient food, inadequate medical care and poor housing conditions which is a great source of stress for their lives.
Their daily struggles in surmounting poverty and injustice to better their lives bring onto them and their families untold amounts of stress. Many persons are therefore forced to work longer hours, to walk longer distances to get water or food, to sleep on the streets, to declare bankruptcy, to indulge in addictive behaviors such as alcohol, drug abuse and violence with the false hope that these will resolve their deplorable conditions.
Taking into consideration these multiple factors that can lead to stress in our modern world, there is little we can do to address some of the factors that are completely out of our control. However, we can do a great deal by taking steps to reduce or completely avoid stress by addressing those factors that are under our control.
Once you learn and practice the simple techniques in this book, you will discover those factors that you already possess as a human being but do not use them because of lack of knowledge. Then you will quickly realize that your happiness is really in your hands.
dedication
I dedicate this book first to God Almighty, without HIM, I would have not been able to write this book, secondly, I dedicate it to all those who are stressed, depressed, who do not know their purpose in life and who will read this book and find solutions to their problems and clear answers to their life questions.
This book is also dedicated to my late father and sister Abel Nwanja and Martha Nwanja respectively.
I finally dedicate this book to all the fallen peacekeepers and first responders in Disasters around the world who died while providing the needed relief supplies and assistance to disaster affected victims around the world.
An Opening statement
Stress can be the spice of life or the kiss of death
I thank you for purchasing this book and hope that it will help to bring down your bandage so that you can use the abilities which still lie dormant within yourself to manage both the positive and the negative stress in harmoniously living with and respecting the Laws of Creation.
These Laws of Creation are Omniscience, Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Immutable meaning that they will affect you no matter the time, the place, the circumstance and they are unchangeable. Whether you believe and acknowledge them or not, they will still influence and control your whole existence.
If you finally acknowledge, recognize and come into knowing the working of these laws, and put into practice the teachings in this book, you will finally become conscious of your inner vital power, which will certainly help you to remove your life from the path of chance and redirect it towards the path of your wish which will certainly be that of abundance of wealth, prosperity and happiness.
These Laws of creation also work in total silence; we can benefit immense growth, peace and happiness if we place ourselves in harmony with them. Peace and happiness can be attained only through the principle of exchange, you need to exchange your old negative way of thinking, talking and doing things, to embrace the new positive way of thinking, talking and acting in order to experience the positive outcome of growth, peace, happiness and a stress-free life.
Your happiness is in your hands. As human beings, we are exposed to face and deal with stress in our daily life activities. When we think of stressful events we tend to think of examples such as school exams, the needle of the nurse/doctor and bullying classmates in our youth, and now perhaps things like job interviews or public speeches, unemployment, increasing work load at the job, a boss who is constantly scolding us, shorter deadlines for tasks and so on. This is partly why we think of stress as entirely a bad thing.
People will experience stress differently and in various degrees based on their traditions, daily activities as well as their cultures. However, in the right circumstances, stress can be perceived as the aroma of life and can be that thing that creates challenge, suspense and excitement. For example, some of the most important and happiest moments of your life were probably also very stressful, such as your first day at work, your marriage, your first day of travelling by air, by sea, your first child, going traveling, moving home, all of them were highly stressful even though they represented exciting positive moments in your life.
A complete lack of stress in your life might mean that you have not had any such major changes in your life and might also suggest that you are not challenged in your life and not moving forward. However, I hope that this book will help you to identify positive and negative stress, and will provide you with the techniques of managing them positively to better your lives in doing what is right and good with the goal of receiving inward fulfillment as you have more control over stress than you presently think.
Positive stress will provide you with the emotional stimulus to forge ahead, while the negative stress will overcome your emotional and physical balance and can lead you to depression, burnout, terminal ailments and even suicide.
If you put into practice the teachings of this book, you will start enjoying life in the present, you will begin to feel contented with what you already have and be grateful in seeking nothing more with the hope of having more tomorrow, then you have attain true happiness and a stress-free life. It is all about using your inner mind to control your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you perceive and deal with problems, in using your spiritual power.
There are well established facts and findings that science has provided in identifying and managing stress which I have not in any way altered. I am only bringing in an eye-opener into the spiritual and the inner Man which science has not paid much attention to until now. There is a power and a world within us, a world we call our mind, a world of thoughts, feeling and power, of light, life and beauty which is invisible but whose power or forces are mighty and unlimited in action. We see, discover and appreciate the world through our mind.
If we discover the mightiness of the power of our minds, we will be able to identify the cause for every issue that affects our lives and can then find the solutions for our problems by redirecting our thoughts towards the goal that we wish to attain rather than paying much attention to the effects of our current condition. For example, if we wish to eliminate poverty, we have to concentrate our thoughts towards riches and prosperity, or if we wish to eliminate disease, we have to focus our thoughts on good health and so on.
Consequently, since the world within us is subject to our control, all laws of power, possession, peace and happiness are also under our control. In persistently focusing our thoughts towards the right objectives, entertaining positive thoughts through concentration, will set in motion invisible forces that will irresistibly bring about the corresponding conditions in our life. Our mind is the ruler and creator of all the events that affect and govern our life environment.
We should learn to entertain and concentrate only the right thoughts because our mind is like a turbo charger, it will charge up and multiply only the type of thoughts that we provide for it. Remember, your thoughts are transformed into your character and your character will create your corresponding environment which will determine your life style.
Man is composed of flesh, bones and blood but his roots remain in the spiritual. While the range has been limited to issues that will help you manage your daily stress, this book is an attempt to address, in a holistic manner, some important topical issues that concern Man as a whole in his daily life activities, and that have been a concern in the minds of serious seeking individuals and are certainly related to the realities of our recent days.
Some of the discussions in this book might seem new to some but others will find the answers to life questions that before then did not have such clear and simple answers. Some persons believe that only dissertations that are difficult and filled with intellectual complexities, are worth the attention and what is simple and obvious is needless to pay much attention to, whereas it is in such simplicity that lies greater power. In rediscovering the simplicity surrounding our daily life and events, we will amazingly come to recognize that everything great and true is simple.
This is not only true as regards natural science but it is also true in relation to our daily life events. The principles in this book will open your imagination. Continue reading it over and over, do not stop, after three readings, you will not want to stop. For those who will like to know more about some of the topics I touched here, they can draw new knowledge from a work of high spiritual value entitled: "In the Light of Truth,
The Grail Message, authored by Abd-ru-Shin. This short piece gives us clear and logical explanation of everything that concerns spiritual life, Man in creation as well as his relationship with the elements of creation. It also provides the answer to the crucial question of
why we were born".
The simple language used and the limited size volume of this book will help readers to go through the text several times until its principles become part of their habit patterns in all the aspects of their daily lives. Our lives are all connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sensitive threads or fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results thanks to the unfailing Laws of Creation that work with a precise logic and justice.
Stress can occur on living beings including humans, animals, plants and marine creatures. Stress can also occur on nonliving objects including solids, liquids and gas. We are going to focus on stress on human beings which can be caused by a person to another. It can also be caused by a group of persons on another group, for example bad governance by a small group of persons on the population, or a small group of armed individuals terrorizing the population and forcing them to change their life style or to adhere to certain ideologies or religious doctrines, and so on. All of these can cause poverty and untold stress on the victim population.
The difference is that for stress to occur on objects there has to be a direct contact between matter or surfaces or a change in temperature, whereas on living beings stress can occur even without the necessity of any direct contact. Our main focus here will be on human beings. For example, you can just speak to someone and put that person under serious stress.
This is the power of the spoken word. Whatever you say, will materialize. Or again, a person might just be sitting alone and when he thinks about a given stressful situation, he/she becomes stressed without any direct external contact, this is the power of thoughts, whatever we think of strongly, will come to materialize. If you think stronger about poverty and utter only poverty related words, it will manifest and you will remain poor in life but if you think strongly and utter words that are related to wealth and riches, it will manifest and you will be a rich and successful person.
This means that, your happiness is in your hands because you alone can decide to be happy or to be sad in reaction to a given situation or condition or according to the types of words or thoughts that you always send out.
Our happiness cannot be given to us by someone else. Our happiness is not out there somewhere, but in us, we can easily let go of negative thoughts in our minds and find a balance again.
Whatever might be the condition or situation, anything has a solution, work towards resolving the problem by entertaining only the right thoughts and do not allow it to stress you up.
On the contrary, if you think there is no solution for a given condition or situation, then it is needless for you to allow it to stress you because that will not change the situation. So, be happy and move on with life, for your happiness is in your own hands.
In our daily interactions with others, sometimes we feel sad or happy and think that it is the other person that made us to be in that disposition. But it is not true; you made yourself happy or unhappy because you made the sole decision to feel that way.
Our happiness depends on us, it comes from within because we are the only person to choose the reaction to adopt, either being happy or sad in reaction to any given situation. It is never what happens or who made it to happened, it is how we handle or react to it. Our happiness cannot be given to us by another person.
It is perfectly normal to feel affected by things, but we have to
