#1 The play, written by William Shakespeare, was performed as entertainment for the Twelfth Night celebrations. Its first recorded performance was in 1602, during the sunset of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The play’s setting is in Illyria, a territory that was composed of all lands between Italy and Greece, and between the Adriatic Sea and the Danube River.
#2 The word Balkan is of Turkish origin, and refers to a forested mountain range that occupies most of what was once Yugoslavia. The name was used to refer to a range of mountains located within Bulgaria in the 1400s, but was incorrectly applied to all of south-eastern Europe.
#3 The term Balkans is used generically to describe this entire region, but when used specifically in the context of a mountain range, it only applies to the north-eastern part in what is now Bulgaria.
#4 The Adriatic coast of the Balkans is very rocky and mountainous, and is studded with islands of various sizes. The land there is difficult to farm, and many of the mountains are composed of limestone or some other marine-based rock in their lower parts and harder denser marble towards their tops.

The Albanians claim that they are the descendants of the Illyrians, a tribe that inhabited what is now central Albania. However, most historians believe that the Slovenians, Bosnians, and Montenegrans are of Slavic heritage.
#6
The Illyrian language is the oldest Indo-European language that has survived. It is only slightly more advanced than the Anatolian languages, and it seems to have originated in modern-day Turkey.
#7
The first theory is that the Illyrians originally lived in Anatolia and then migrated to the western Balkans. The second theory is that the Illyrians were the western Balkans’ original inhabitants who moved to Anatolia for some unknown reason and then moved back into Europe.
#8
The second theory states that the Illyrians came from Europe and migrated to Anatolia, and then returned to Europe. The name Ilios, which was the name of the city where the Trojans lived, looks similar to the name Illyrius, the name of the heroic progenitor of the Illyrian people.
#9
The Trojans were a tribe that originated in Greece, and they were the ancestors of the Illyrians. Other authors like Virgil, Apollodorus, Diodorus Siculus, and Dionysius of Halicarnassus provide extra details. They state that Dardanus was the child of
