About this ebook

Life on other Planets

Is there life, and in particular human life, out there in the universe?

Esoteric teachings affirm that life does indeed exist throughout the cosmos - even within our own solar system, on planets other than the Earth. The author's metaphysics investigations, together with his knowledge of the cutting edge of contemporary thought, have uncovered fascinating details of the history of our planetary neighbours.

Life on the Moon reached fairly advanced levels of physical expression, and evidence for this contention lies waiting to be discovered, at deep subterranean levels.

A greater question mark exists over the possibility of complex life having been present on Mars. The discovery of the remnants of microbial life on an ancient Martian meteorite will do little to resolve this quandary. A few drops do not make a monsoon . . . but they may foreshadow one!

This book is not science fiction. There is a body of teaching on our planet, very ancient and frequently tested, termed the Gupta-Vidya in India, the Sibyl in ancient Rome, the Kabbala, Esoteric Buddhism, the Ancient Wisdom of the Gnostics, the Secret Doctrine of Theosophy, etc., which comments on the way in which nature and the cosmos unfolded. Many descriptions of cosmogenesis flow as a common current through these teachings. Because they are so often masked in mysticism, in symbol and glyph, in mythology and legend, they are not easy to unravel.

Dr. Baker in a brilliant way, aided by images, charts and tables, presents these complex principles of Life in an easy to understand, yet very detailed fashion. Many scientific and esoteric references are quoted and several appendices are included which will help the reader through some sections of this work for which there are no simple analogies, equivalents or colloquialisms available in the English language.

This book will change the way you think about life and the universe. It will provide glimpses of the true destiny of humanity . . . immortality!

Douglas M. Baker

Dr. Douglas M. Baker. English born and raised in South Africa has done extensive scientific research into those hinterlands of the mind which one might call psi-semantics. He graduated in the Arts & Humanities in South Africa and qualified in medicine at Sheffield University (UK) in 1964. Having taught in the East End schools of London for 10 years, he began his tour of the Western world giving lectures and seminars in Esoteric Healing, Esoteric Anatomy, Esoteric Astrology, Esoteric Psychology, Esoteric Science and Metaphysics. He, more than any other, set in motion the trends towards alternative methods of medicine which have transformed that field in Britain today. As medical advisor to the De la Warr laboratories in Oxford, he undertook research into Biomagnetism and quantum physics their effects on the human aura and dark matter, producing the book by the same name in conjunction with George de la Warr. Through the years he has given more than 15,000 lectures and attracted people from all over the world to his Esoteric Science Festivals and International Summer Schools staged in America, Canada, England, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. His transformative experiences during the Second World War, when twice severely wounded, set the pattern for his life long investigations into the Powers Latent in Man. His extensive esoteric writings are said to be the largest collection in the world produced by a living author. He has written over 100 books, many of which have been translated into the 9 European languages at https://www.douglasbaker.com, and his list of downloadable MP3 audio lectures available at www.douglasbaker.org, include 500 live lectures given around the world and on a vast range of subjects. He has led the field in esoteric astrology, producing with a team, his magnum opus, a Dictionary of Astrology for the 21st Century in three volumes. This is in addition to the already existing 11 volume set of books on the same subject.

Ask not, Am I offended by what I read here ?

If what you read is not true, you should not be offended.

If it is true, then you dare not be.

    Foreword

Overnight the outlook of the Earth's people changed. What millions of ordinary persons believed to be true and some had shouted from the rooftops for centuries suddenly seemed ordinary and unremarkable. There is life beyond our terrestrial home. NASA had staged a coup and with the help of President Clinton's own support life elsewhere became official.

Half the scientific community had of course already known ten years earlier that fossil cells were being discovered in meteorites uncovered in the Antarctic by retreating glaciers and it had been repeatedly confirmed that they were unlike any life form on Earth. That just left Mars and the Moon as culprits and we had already had sample rocks from both which had been announced as having no traces of life.

I don't like to be unkind but it does seem that with an election coming up in the USA in a few months, this sudden interest in life out there is a winner both for Clinton, short of esteem, and for NASA, desperately short of funds. But Esoteric Science is not too proud to accept support for its age-old contentions whatever the source. For the last 45 years I have personally lectured around this theme of life on other planets in a thousand venues world-wide and always noted the hush that comes over an audience at any mention of scientific corroboration. And eyes do boggle at the prospect of that life being discovered.

Time and again there are the few who ask Who are we? . . . here on this tiny planet, lost like a grain of sand on all the beaches of the universe, and ... are we alone? Or are there planets out there like our own . . . actually inhabited? Science now confirms that there must be hundreds of thousands of solar systems with planets like our own capable of supporting our kind of life.

If this is true then without undue arrogance we must ask are there peoples out there as developed as we are? If humanity is only average in development then there must be systems far in advance of us. And say there is such a civilisation a thousand years ahead or even a million, their technological expertise could be staggering. To them, the transmission of radio signals would be like child's play as would receiving the answering messages. Well, Earth has been sending out such messages telling the universe who we are, where we are placed in the galaxy, what we look like and asking that our calls be answered. The transmission has been going on for more than forty years non-stop. Answers? Nothing! Absolutely nothing!!

Would not such a technically progressed humanity itself pose the same questions? The answer to this enigma could be that such an advanced civilisation may have already reached and passed the stage of its populace, or some of them, knowing by continued rebirth (spiritually) and by reincarnation (physically on Globes D in a variety of galaxies) that they are immortal. Why would immortals bother with civilisations like ours that had not even become aware that they (the citizens) were imbued with that immortal spark of the Divine which we call the Monad? To put it into a more embraceable phraseology and by analogy, let us assume that the reader is one such being, and is walking down his garden path at home. He notices a small ant hole as he treads the garden pathway to the gate. It is a very normal phenomenon. He does not pause at the ant hole either to impede the ants activities (by pouring water down their hole) or encourage them by clearing away a hindering stone. Why should he? The ants are doing nicely and don't need to be nannied or interfered with!

Nor should we on Earth expect to be nannied by civilisations more advanced than our own. We deserve the good karma that comes with resolving our own difficulties! Some of us are aware, through our experiences, that we are immortal and with Bertrand Russell, may say

We who are immortal can be gay.

There is another matter here which concerns those of us who have the time to think deeply on who we are here on Earth, where we came from, why we are here at all, and what the future holds for us. Having been through the whole charade of Darwin's theory of evolution in the Halls of Learning which we call higher education in the West, I was left bewildered as to how the human brain could have evolved or been put together under such circumstances. No one denies today that the thinking organ of man is a computer, and I would emphasise here that it is such a magnificent structure that not even the total workforce of the Earth and all its wealth could construct such an efficient computer even if it were to be employed for 100 years. Am I to believe that this extraordinary product arose merely from primordial slime located on the edges of seas and lakes 3 billion years ago? Or that through the fortuitous bringing together of a group of simple acids to form what we now regard as protein and perhaps acted upon by natural forces like lightning or cosmic rays, assembled a formula that could weather the storm of geophysical cataclysms right up to our present day in such a way as to become the originator of a computer-brain as brilliant as we have suggested here?

We must, even as sturdy scientists venture to ask questions which are teleological. Who built the computer? Are we to believe that it was built out of hit-or-miss procedures? Or it was put together by creatures who had evolved out of a process of survival of the fittest? Again we must ask, accepting a computer, assembled without any blueprint or plan for its structure: Who then programmed it? And the further we go (or should we say the deeper we go) into this whole sorry business presented originally by Darwin the more we find ourselves floundering.

Nevertheless, the fact remains, in his brain Man has a splendid vehicle for the use of his mind. But when we examine it carefully we find extraordinary anomalies, only one of which shall I deal with here. Though our consciousness is crowded into the tiny space occupied by the brain, there appears to be, in that very brain, large areas of its cortex, the seat of consciousness, which are uncommitted, suggesting an oversight on the part of its manufacturer. These silent areas appear to be waiting for their tasks, whether sensory or motor. When we look at the rest of the human body we find that organs or parts
