    Foreword

When I was approached with the concept of writing this book I did so partially out of curiosity.  The bigger question I asked myself was, are electric vehicles a scam?  Historically, I try and convey a balance.  I have an internal need to attempt to be fair.  In life, there are always at a minimum two sides to every story.

Furthermore, what is written in this book is high level.  The book is not written as a dissertation, but to provide maximum facts, thoughts to ponder, and ease of reading.  The book is not long, but it has a ton of information available to the reader.  Furthermore, I desire to steer the reader based on facts towards their conclusion.   My reality is not necessarily your reality.

The book is written in a first-person narrative. The first-person is a preferred style and reflects my beliefs.  The beliefs are for the most part backed up using references, direct quotes with quotation marks and paraphrasing.  My intuition points myself, but the facts substantiate or contradict.  Ultimately, we live by the facts, but the facts must be taken into context.

    Introduction

The electric vehicle market is going to impact every one of us.  This is not as simple as you buy a car and that is the end of the story.  The impacts of electric vehicles are going to touch every aspect of life.  The electrification of America will put us at the mercy of other countries for needed raw materials.  It will impact the electric grid and our ability to flip a switch and have lights.

Furthermore, the potential inflationary implication of freight and impacts on long-haul truckers should concern each of us.  Ultimately, we need to address environmental concerns, but it should be a strategic, well-thought-out process and it should not include profiteering.  The business has a right to show a return on investment.  Anyone

in the congressional delegation, executive branch, and particularly individuals who care less about our world other than enriching themselves should be refused the ability to profit on the backs of everybody else.

    Carbon Footprint

The age-old issues that arise are the comparisons.  We need verification of the comparison of apples to apples.  For that matter, we need to establish the apples are correctly counted.  Furthermore, a review of the differences in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing processes and cost factors needs to be understood. The hype versus reality are thoughts to ponder.  The final step of this section is an editorial based on the author’s perception. The carbon footprint includes all greenhouse gases and is a measure of the impact your activities have on the amount of CO2 produced through the burning of fossil fuels (youmatter World., 2020, February 20).
