The first-generation Insignia arrived in 2008, replacing the Vectra, and with facelift restyling, drivetrain and safety updates being applied from mid-2013. Fresh-faced second-generation Insignias were introduced in the summer of 2017, with restyled bodywork and a new range of engines, including the powerful and willing 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor.
For this feature we are looking at a 1.5-litre turbocharged 165bhp version with LFV/B15XHT Z18 engine code.

Preparation
A major plus point for the Insignia (as with other recent Vauxhalls), compared with many modern cars, is that it is very easy to work on, even for a novice; everything you need to reach is readily accessible, and even the turbocharger is handily positioned at the front of the engine bay.
Servicing components are widely available and Edward advises that it is worth pricing up genuine Vauxhall filters etc, as they compare favourably with the asking prices of many reproduction’ items.
