About this ebook
What could a werewolf and a human possibly have in common?
Werewolf Letty has arrived in Lazarus City for one reason—to take down Alastor Shade, a well-connected demon that practically runs the supernatural underground. Letty is focused, effective, and deadly, and always gets the job done. This job will be no different—or so she thinks.
Mags is a human barista in Lazarus City, totally oblivious to the fact that she lives in the middle of a supernatural stronghold. When a sexy leather-clad bounty hunter walks into her cafe looking for a caffeine fix, Mags is smitten. But she has no idea what she's about to get swept up in.
Two worlds cross paths and what was supposed to be an easy job suddenly becomes a lot more complicated. For the first time, Letty isn't just concerned with her own well-being, but someone else's. And protecting this bubbly but breakable human she cares about wasn't supposed to be on the menu.
It quickly becomes clear that you don't need to have much in common to be bonded forever.

The Wolf and the Barista - Emily S Hurricane
1
Bounty hunters didn’t set foot in Lazarus City unless they had a death wish. Letty didn’t have a death wish—but Letty was a werewolf. And werewolves didn’t have to worry about bodily harm as much as humans did.
Her mark was Alastor Shade, a high-roller gang lord deep in the heart of the city of sin. He was also a sarkany demon, which meant despite his humanoid appearance he carried the blood of hell-dragons in his veins.
Letty’s job was to subdue him and remove him from Lazarus City. He had the protection of the police department, both supernatural and non, which made a sanctioned arrest impossible.
She didn’t know why her client wanted him. She didn’t care. She was just here to do her job.
Well, at that particular moment, what she really wanted was a drink.
She planted a foot on the sidewalk and swung off of her sleek black motorcycle. She unclipped her helmet and planted it on the seat, unzipping her leather riding coat as she sauntered into a little cafe.
It was one of those hole-in-the-wall places, a super-thin storefront with a single window, blink and you miss it. The interior stretched far back, deep into the building, and up a step to a raised rear area with seating and a balcony that overlooked the wide Dryad River that flowed through the heart of the city.
Hiya!
A petite woman finished up wiping a table and tucked her rag into the back pocket of her skintight jeans. Welcome! What can I get for you?
Black coffee,
she said gruffly, and swept past her to a seat furthest from the balcony, against the wall.
Any specific profile you like?
The woman held up a hand, counting off on her fingers as she spoke. "I’ve got a dark Sumatra, a medium/dark Tanzania, and oh, I just roasted up a medium Panama that is—"
Just.
Letty held up a palm to stop the bubbly woman’s babbling. Just coffee.
The barista snapped her fingers and gave her a little salute. Right-o! I know just what you need.
The wolf wrinkled her nose and sat sideways in her chair so that her back was to the wall and she had a good view of the balcony and the front door. She’d just gotten into town, and as far as she knew she didn’t have any enemies in Lazarus City, but it never hurt to be too careful.
She took in a long breath, hooking one combat booted foot over her knee. The scent of many different coffee beans overwhelmed her, some chocolatey, some citrusy, some sharp, some woodsy. She didn’t know which ones were which, but caffeine was caffeine and she’d drink whatever the cute barista brought her.
Cute? She tongued the inside of her cheek as she caught a slight hint of jasmine mingled with the brew, and zeroed in on the woman puttering around behind the counter.
She watched her move with the grace of a dancer, light on her feet and grabbing equipment with practiced ease. Her long blonde ponytail swished back and forth behind her, fanning more of the jasmine scent around. She was one hundred percent human, which meant this was a good establishment to have a rest and a coffee and figure out her next move.
The supernaturals tended to stick to their own places where they could be more openly other. Letty wasn’t ashamed of her
