Introduction
Each time he said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
My first experience parasailing was exhilarating! Soaring over the Gulf of Mexico, I was enraptured by the bird’s-eye view of the beautiful world hundreds of feet below me. Amid the thrill, I suddenly realized: I am being carried along by a power not my own!
That’s an apt description of how I feel about this great adventure called Elder Orphan Care. Those of us who serve with EOC have no doubt that it is God’s power carrying us along!
And he’s been faithfully doing it for over a decade.
I wrote the original Hello,Hope! which recounts our history through thirty devotional-style stories, in celebration of our ten-year anniversary in 2021. As I write this, we are rejoicing that God has given us another year to serve older adults in need both in Romania, where EOC was birthed, and in North Carolina, where we are based.
So much has happened in the year since the original Hello, Hope! was written. For example:
Our kitchen project is well underway in Romania.
Our prayer for a third staff member has been answered.
Our need for a mobile pantry in North Carolina has been provided in creative ways.
The number of older adults we have the privilege of serving continues to grow.
Our financial needs continue to be provided through a marvelous network of individual donors, churches, companies, and grants.
