    An Unexpected Proposition

Seriously? Nobody wanted to trade for this stuff? I spent an entire three days scouring that old electronics factory. This is good stuff! And... nobody wants any of it. Sighing, I throw my backpack over my shoulder. Giving the merchant a sad smile, I nod and turn to leave. This... sucks, I only had a few old world dollars left before I would run through the last of my money. This haul was supposed to hold me over till next week.

Kicking at the dirt, I glance up at the brown windows, and cracked concrete. This… this used to be something, now it’s just a settlement. In it’s past life, I suspect this building was a mall before the bombs. A place of shopping and buying, so not much had changed in a few hundred years. Sad thing is, two hundred years, barely seemed to change much at all actually. Sure, the radiation isn’t bad as it was for my grand father’s, grand father, and in some places we were starting to see a bit of green in the trees and the grass. Which honestly, as a kid, was something I’d only ever seen in old world movies and pictures.

    Get a move on!

Shaking my head, I look around me, various people keep walking around me, a few staring intently as I stand in the middle of the street. A blush heats up my cheeks in embarrassment.

    Sorry

Stepping forward, I let my mind wander as I head for the exit, ignoring the colorful, and sometimes bizarre, shops and people. We are the children, of the children, who grew up after the bombs fell.

The nukes effectively started the world over, once more. We are back to tribes, no governments, no nations, heck, no religions that everyone just believed in. Now days, religion is kinda reserved for the crazier groups out there. I once heard of a group formed in an irradiated crater, another was a tribe of cannibal’s who prayed to an unopened can of corn, I even heard tales of a bunker with singing frogs.

Get your guide to the wasteland here! Never go alone without knowing friend or foe!

Smirking, I glance at the man, his leather outfit looking like most other scavengers, pieced together from things he found, and or bought while traveling. He was holding a book that seemed hand crafted.

It has everything you need to know about plants and the old world. Never miss out on valuable items when exploring!

Shaking my head, I move passed him, heading for the exit once more. Taverns are always full of people like that, swapping stories, claiming to know what would be most valuable if found, but most of the time, they just want to make a quick bit of money before running off to the next settlement to do it all over again.

Coming around a corner, a large city map caught my eye, various bits and pieces had been changed and highlighted over the centuries. So many unique tribes here, the city was splintered and filled with raiders and weirdos..

For example, down south, in the husk of the city, you’ll find the Unionites, a tribe founded and living in the remains of the old, grand, train station. Not bad for trading, but even the Unionites had multiple sub sections. I think the building had been a museum of some sort before the bombs, but each portion had it’s own residents and beliefs. It’s ancient history now, but according to the older residents, they didn’t all used to work together. It’s tales like that I live for when visiting places.

Looking closer at the map, I can see where there once was a giant circle.
