About this ebook
Cairo, Egypt, 1948: a war weary foreign correspondent seeks shelter from the brutal July heat. He comes upon dusty old shop and discovers a hundred year-old journal. He purchases it and is intrigued by its report of an ancient and abandoned city in the desert with the promise of rich treasure awaiting anyone who dares make the journey. Sikait, the fabled emerald mines of the Pharaohs, has rested for millennia in the inhospitable, unforgiving Eastern Desert of Egypt. After recruiting an old friend, together they make the challenging journey to Sikait. Once there they discover the place is indeed rich with valuable treasures as promised in the old journal. But Sikait also hides a primal evil. Their quest for fortune soon becomes a terrifying ordeal of survival against a monstrous, unspeakable, ancient horror.

I am a retired educator with nearly thirty years of classroom experience, hold a doctorate in education, have been married to the same woman since 1977, have two grown and married kids and two grand kids. I am an Air Force veteran, a licensed private pilot, and I ride a Harley 1200 XL Nightster. I have been writing since I was in grade school, but didn't start publishing until I began teaching. My published material up to now has been scholarly and peer reviewed journal articles for teachers. As to my personal writing, I have always enjoyed the supernatural and horror/fantasy. I have written two books and have two others in production. The completed books are available on Smashwords. My inspirations have been Edgar Allen Poe (of course), H.P. Lovecraft and Steven King. I am also a working artist. I do paintings, drawings, recycled material sculpture, paper cuts, and the occasional ceramic object. My subject matter is satirical farce, and the surreal. My work can be seen and purchased at http://www.moon-dog-studio.com
