About this ebook

In the year 2039, Earth finds itself under a relentless alien invasion. These extraterrestrial beings, determined to reshape history, travel back in time to Roswell in 1947. In a thrilling turn of events, Earth's exceptional meta-human, Dazzle Shelton, emerges as the planet's ultimate superhero and embarks on a daring mission to follow the aliens to the site of the infamous saucer crash.

Dazzle, a remarkable 17-year-old supergirl, is the product of cutting-edge DNA gene-splicing, which has endowed her with an array of extraordinary abilities. She is much stronger than regular humans, although not without weaknesses of her own. Dazzle can be hurt, and she feels pain. Her speed allows her to move almost faster than the eye can follow, making her a formidable force to be reckoned with.

Beyond her physical prowess, Dazzle's amazing brain power grants her a keen intellect and remarkable strategic thinking. With her razor-sharp fangs, she can unleash a fearsome bite when the situation calls for it, while her steel-like claws are her trusty weapons, capable of slashing through the toughest of obstacles.

Dazzle also has a short fuse, and whether this is a curse or a blessing is debatable. For when human lives are at stake, she acts first and thinks later. At least this is what she leads the aliens to believe.

Dazzle Shelton is a weapon, and she stands as humanity's last hope against the encroaching alien threat. Their epic clash across time and space will determine the fate of Earth and the course of history itself.

Don Vodka

Donnalee Vodka began her life in a small town in southern Nevada. She has always been fascinated with Science Fiction, especially movies. Some of her favorites are Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Black Panther, and of course the Back to the Future trilogy. When she couldn't find an exciting time travel/sci fi movie to watch, she decided to write her own story. So, in 2021, while still in high school, she sat down and began tapping away at the keyboard, writing novels that read like movies. Donnalee has already released ten books in her Dazzle Shelton – Alien Invasion Series, published by Books Under The Stairs. In her own words, ‘if you like Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, and wonder what a mashup between Clueless and War of the Worlds would be like… you’re as whack as I am and I think you’ll like my series. Read the books now, ahead of the streaming series. Periodt.’ Donnalee, or Don as she is known to her friends, writes from the heart. Over a strong margarita. (edit - only when I’m in Canada where I’m legal… DV) If she needs inspiration she need look no further than out the back window of her twenty-foot house trailer. For barely 25 miles away lies Groom Lake, aka Area 51. After a few shots of Tequila , the aliens starting buzzing about overhead. Always. Don wants everyone to know she is NOT Russian, and supports the Ukraine 100%. In fact, she can trace her roots to the city of Odessa, where her great-great-grandparents lived more than a hundred years ago. She has a webpage, donvodka.com, and is hard at work on the next book in the series. This new edition stars Misty and Rikkie, and is set in the year 2068. Don states that this time the aliens are ruthless. But Misty, the metahuman with claws and fangs--and a quick temper--is more than ready. Look for the book to drop in June or perhaps sooner. Depending on the Tequila. And a reminder to everyone… keep watching the skies! Fox Mulder was onto something—and it wasn’t that stuff you can smoke.

Dazzle Shelton - Alien Invasion Series is a collection of adventure novels. Each book is a stand-alone story, although you will enjoy the series more if you read them in order.

Alien Invasion Series and the Amazing Dazzle Shelton

In the year 2021, a young woman appears in the Nevada desert, warning of a coming alien attack. Although human, she is clearly not of this Earth, for she possesses incredible powers and abilities. Three months later, under her leadership, the alien invaders are defeated.

The woman’s name is Daz, the last survivor of the human origin planet called Haven. Daz marries and settles, and gives birth to a daughter. Daz and Ross name their remarkable little girl Dazzle, the first meta-human born on Earth.

Dazzle inherits all the enhancements her mother has, and much more. She has incredible strength, is amazingly fast, and has an IQ that cannot be measured. In her seventeenth year, as she prepares to graduate from high school in the small town of Sunrise, Nevada, the nightmare begins again.

In the summer of 2039 the aliens return, determined to finish what they started. But this time they face the teenage super-girl. Dazzle comes equipped with evolving powers that are superior to what even her mother has. Claws. Fangs. And much more.

And she hates aliens with a passion.

Join Dazzle as she faces insectoids, robots, Reptilians and every manner of alien that one can imagine. She and her friends battle them wherever or whenever they are. Around the world, across the galaxy, and through time.

All the while, she must balance her social life. Boyfriends, parties, graduation ceremonies, backyard barbecues. Being a teen is stressful enough, never mind having to contend with alien invaders.

Dazzle got half of her DNA from her ordinary father. And when faced with situations that can’t be handled using claws and fangs, such as when boys are involved, she switches over to that DNA, becoming shy and insecure. Good thing she has her besties to steer her through the minefield that is a teenager coming of age.

    Preface

IN THE LATE 1940S, as the world was returning to normal following the events of World War II, a strange phenomenon began to appear in the skies. Unusual lights were reported, and flying craft that were too fast and agile to be of human design were spotted.

Outside the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, an event occurred that would become legend among those that supported the notion that aliens were studying our planet. In July of 1947, the newspapers reported that the Army had recovered a crashed flying saucer in a field near town. It was possible that aliens were aboard, maybe even alive, according to the rumors.

Within a few days, the Army discounted the story of an alien saucer and stated that what had been found was a weather balloon.

Yet, the stories spread through numerous eyewitness accounts. And less than two weeks later the Central Intelligence Agency was formed, one of its mandates being to keep secret what the government really knew about the saucer recovered outside of Roswell.

When the aliens finally did attack almost seventy-five years later, the truth finally came out. Aliens were real. Thanks to Dazensha T’Mekka, the alien menace was defeated. Or so we thought.

But after twenty years of calm, the aliens again resurfaced. With a new strategy that spanned time itself, they were certain they could conquer Earth. And once again feast on human flesh.

    Chapter 1

    Calm Before the Storm

CORBIN LEANED INTO the lug nut wrench and the nut squealed as it tightened. He pulled the wrench off, then froze. He cocked his head to one side.

There it is again, Hank, said Corbin. That strange noise.

I don’t hear nothing, said Hank. Just tighten them lug nuts and let’s get going.

It was a bad place to get a flat tire, out in the middle of the desert with no cell phone service. The back road through the Nevada desert was lonely that morning. Not a car had passed either way for more than an hour.

    What’s that up there, Hank?

The large, silver craft slowly lowered onto the middle of the road, not fifty feet ahead of the pickup truck. It wasn’t a helicopter, and definitely nothing that either Hank or Corbin had ever seen before, even on TV. Except maybe on old Twilight Zone reruns from the 60s.

It looks like a flying saucer, said Hank.

There ain’t any such thing, said Corbin.

A door opened on the silvery craft and a very tall humanoid stepped out, holding the collars of two four-legged creatures that looked like overgrown rats with long, sharp teeth. The beasts were the size of lions, growling and fighting fiercely to free themselves from the grip of their master. They had powerful limbs, tipped with huge claws. They looked starved, mad with hunger. The humanoid spoke to the beasts and released them.

There was no time to think. Both men jumped into the pickup. Hank started the engine and struggled to find reverse. But he was too slow.

The beasts were on them in seconds, tearing the doors off of the pickup and hauling Hank and Corbin out with their claws. Corbin screamed for an instant before his entire face was bitten off by the fangs of one beast.

Hank looked over at the tire iron lying nearby. He tried to reach for it, but his arms had already been ripped from his body.

DAZZLE AND HER THREE girlfriends walked slowly down Main Street, in Disneyland, each girl licking on an ice cream cone. Strawberry, strawberry, strawberry and chocolate, meta-human Dazzle being the oddball. A lot of boys turned and stared at them, as all four were very attractive young women, especially in their midriff-baring tops and shorts.

It was a beautiful warm and sunny day, the park was full, and the girls were enjoying some well-deserved downtime after a summer of killing alien sleeper cells and clones. They were silent, seemingly all locked into their own daydream.

Dazzle gazed wistfully toward the castle at end of the street, wondering what it would be like to be a princess and live in such a magnificent place. What kind of life would a girl have, born so different from everyone else? Would it be that much different from her own life? For she was quite different.

Dazzle’s life certainly wasn’t what anyone could have predicted. Although in hindsight it wasn’t totally surprising, given that her mother had come from another planet, seventy-five light-years away from Earth. But Dazzle was one hundred percent human, and fiercely proud of that fact. Her mom was also human. Humans had been chased from their origin planet twenty thousand years ago by aliens, forced to find new planets to live on. And Earth was now the last planet where humans existed.

Dazzle looked at her three best friends, all a few months older than her seventeen years, as they meandered through the center of Disneyland. Friends that kept her grounded. Friends that stood by her. Friends that enjoyed killing aliens and teasing boys, just like she did, as if they were addicted. To both. When Dazzle needed to feel more normal, and less super, her besties were always there for her. Always.

In the distance loomed Tomorrowland, with the rocket ships that evoked images of space ships and aliens from faraway planets. There was nothing actually in her memory of other planets, for Dazzle had been born in Sunrise, Nevada, daughter of Ross Shelton and Dazensha T’Mekka Shelton. Both humans. Ross from Earth, Dazensha from Mest. So very normal.

But there were times when Dazzle seemed to remember events that she should not be able to remember. Things she had not experienced. Deja vu? Perhaps. But it felt like more. It was almost like she had been there when the aliens had attacked her mother’s planet.

At times it felt like she was in the battle, slaying aliens with the powerful weapon, fighting side by side with her mother, on Mest.

Her mother had been sent to Earth to warn and prepare the people for the imminent invasion. That was eighteen years ago... before Dazzle was even born. When the alien Ckizz attacked Earth, the aliens were soundly defeated, led by Dazzle’s mother, and humanity continued to exist in peace.

Following the Alien War, her parents married, Dazzle was born, and her early life was as routine as could be. Except that she had inherited amazing abilities from her mother, a mother that was fast, strong and very intelligent. Dazzle got all of those abilities, too. Magnified a hundred-fold. She was much faster. Far stronger. And her brain operated at light speed.

She also had fangs and claws; enhancements engineered into her DNA by the scientists on her mother’s former planet. She knew inside that there was a reason for the powers she had. And sure enough, when the alien scourge had once again reared its ugly head on Earth a few months ago, it was Dazzle who rose to the occasion.

Her claws tore them to shreds. Her fangs ripped off their limbs. She killed all of them. Or so she had thought. But were they all gone? She couldn’t be sure.

Earth to Dazzle, said Mischa, as she tugged on her sleeve, snapping Dazzle back to reality, back to coming-of-age wonder-teen. Like a switch had been flipped, her brain went from operating off her mom’s uber-enhanced DNA and turned on her dad’s relatively average DNA.

Sorry. I was just letting my mind wander a bit, she said. How are you liking our vacay?

It’s great, said Mischa. I always wanted to come to Disneyland, but my parents could never afford it.

Well, you’re here now and the CIA is paying for everything. And they’ve got tons of money, so buy as many souvenirs as you can carry, said Dazzle. The best part is that the four of us could be here together. It makes it way more fun. We graduated grade twelve and we eliminated the alien sleeper cells, so this is exactly what we needed.

And we got rid of all the alien clones, too, said Mischa.

Yeah, we did, said Dazzle. That was the hardest part.

Six months ago, I didn’t even know what a clone was, said Sandy. Or a sleeper cell.

Too bad the boys couldn’t come with us on this trip, said Janelle.

It’s GNO, Jan. Girls' night out, reminded Sandy. Enjoy it while you can, because pretty soon we’ll be married and we’ll never again get time for ourselves.

That’s right, said Dazzle. It’s a known fact that marrying a man is like adopting a six-foot-tall baby.

Did you read that on the internet somewhere? asked a skeptical Janelle.

Of course, answered Dazzle. Do you think I just make stuff up? I do research, you know.

Too bad this is our last day here, said Mischa. I love everything about this place. If I wasn’t working for the CIA, I would probably want to be one of the characters, like Mickey Mouse.

There’s not much difference, said Dazzle.

Dazzle put an arm around Mischa’s slender shoulders as they strolled along the cobblestone road. The four besties stepped onto the sidewalk as a horse-drawn streetcar slowly traveled down the street, and they waved at the people riding inside.

We’ll come back again, said Dazzle. But I’m pretty sure we did go on every ride here. By the way, what’s your favorite ride, Mischa?

I liked the one I went on yesterday at Tomorrowland. In the arcade.

That wasn’t a ride, noted Janelle. That was an electric massage chair.

My legs were killing me and that electric chair saved me, said Mischa.

We must be in California if the electric chair can save you, said Janelle.

Seriously, I have to take way more steps than you guys because I’m shorter, added Mischa.

I offered to get you a stroller at the entrance, Mischa Mouse, teased Sandy.

That’s real funny, Sandy. But who are you trying to fool? You just wanted to get a closer look at the stroller rental guy, said Mischa.

Looking is allowed, said Sandy. And I’m sorry, but my stud finder was pinging like crazy.

Let’s find a place to eat lunch, said Dazzle. I need a good bone right now.

Don’t say that too loud, this is a family place, reminded Janelle.

HOW COME EVERYONE IS staring at us? asked Sandy.

The River Belle restaurant was packed. After eating the meat off the ribs, all three girls slid the rib bones over to Dazzle, who was devouring them as fast as they passed them to her. And people were watching. Lots of people. All of the people, actually.

Could be because Dazzle is eating the bones, said Janelle. Or maybe they recognize us.

Nobody knows us, said Mischa. How could anyone recognize us.

It’s the fangs for sure, said Sandy.

I don’t care if people want to stare at me, or if they think I’m a freak, said Dazzle. I can’t help it but these ribs taste so yummy.

Call the waiter over, and ask for the bill, said Janelle. We’ll get a doggy-bag and go to the room where we can pig out in private.

Mischa waved her hand and the waiter came to their table. He smiled and leaned into the girl.

Can we get our bill, please? asked Mischa.

Oh, you don’t have to pay, said the young man. Your bill is already paid.

    Paid? How? asked Mischa.

Paid by that table over there, said the waiter, pointing to a family with kids seated a few tables away, who were just now waving at them.

They paid for our meal? asked Janelle. But why?

They said something about you four ladies saving our precious planet, he said. I haven’t a clue what they meant. Are you a K-Pop group or something, doing an ecology concert, maybe? Or a rally for world peace?

Not quite. But did they say that? asked Sandy.

Yes, and a few other customers wanted to know if they could also pay for your meal or get selfies with you. But I told them they should respect your privacy. Disney policy.

The four girls looked at each other, and gradually smiles appeared on their faces.

Suddenly Mischa jumped onto her chair. Who wants to meet Dazzle? Earth’s real-life superhero!

The place exploded into cheering, everyone leaped to their feet, and all the kids ran over to the girls’ table. The family that had paid for the girls’ meal came to shake hands with Dazzle and her girl squad.

Thank you so much for what you did, fighting off the aliens, said the father. These are my two children.

Dazzle shook hands with the two young kids.

I am from India, said the little girl. We came here for a holiday and to visit my uncle.

I’m glad you came here, said Dazzle.

    Can I ask a question?

    Sure.

They say you are America’s greatest hero, the little girl said. Is that true?

I don’t know if I’m a hero or not. If people feel that way it’s up to them to think that. But if I am a hero, I am Earth’s hero, not just America’s. Because I belong to all people.

Even people in India? asked the girl.

Yes, of course. We are all one people on this planet.

You are my hero, said the girl, as she hugged Dazzle. Thank you for saving us.

Thank you for buying me ribs for lunch, sweetie, said
