About this ebook

Dazzle, the hybrid meta-human teenage girl that has alien DNA born into her genetic makeup, once again faces an alien menace. Clones that look exactly like humans are being inserted into the population by the Overlords. The CIA doesn't know who to trust, for even Dazzle may be cloned. To further complicate her life, Dazzle must contend with boys. Lucky for her that her besties are experts on the topic, and during Tequila-fueled sleepovers, they are able to steer Dazzle straight.

Overlords have been searching for humans for 20,000 years. They bring with them large insectoids, as well as the vicious horde, a terrifying beast larger than a bear, with a voracious appetite for human flesh. Alien vs Human in all-out WAR.

Don Vodka

Donnalee Vodka began her life in a small town in southern Nevada. She has always been fascinated with Science Fiction, especially movies. Some of her favorites are Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Black Panther, and of course the Back to the Future trilogy. When she couldn't find an exciting time travel/sci fi movie to watch, she decided to write her own story. So, in 2021, while still in high school, she sat down and began tapping away at the keyboard, writing novels that read like movies. Donnalee has already released ten books in her Dazzle Shelton – Alien Invasion Series, published by Books Under The Stairs. In her own words, ‘if you like Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, and wonder what a mashup between Clueless and War of the Worlds would be like… you’re as whack as I am and I think you’ll like my series. Read the books now, ahead of the streaming series. Periodt.’ Donnalee, or Don as she is known to her friends, writes from the heart. Over a strong margarita. (edit - only when I’m in Canada where I’m legal… DV) If she needs inspiration she need look no further than out the back window of her twenty-foot house trailer. For barely 25 miles away lies Groom Lake, aka Area 51. After a few shots of Tequila , the aliens starting buzzing about overhead. Always. Don wants everyone to know she is NOT Russian, and supports the Ukraine 100%. In fact, she can trace her roots to the city of Odessa, where her great-great-grandparents lived more than a hundred years ago. She has a webpage, donvodka.com, and is hard at work on the next book in the series. This new edition stars Misty and Rikkie, and is set in the year 2068. Don states that this time the aliens are ruthless. But Misty, the metahuman with claws and fangs--and a quick temper--is more than ready. Look for the book to drop in June or perhaps sooner. Depending on the Tequila. And a reminder to everyone… keep watching the skies! Fox Mulder was onto something—and it wasn’t that stuff you can smoke.

Dazzle Shelton - Alien Invasion Series is a collection of adventure novels. Each book is a stand-alone story, although you will enjoy the series more if you read them in order.

Alien Invasion Series and the Amazing Dazzle Shelton

In the year 2021, a young woman appears in the Nevada desert, warning of a coming alien attack. Although human, she is clearly not of this Earth, for she possesses incredible powers and abilities. Three months later, under her leadership, the alien invaders are defeated.

The woman’s name is Daz, the last survivor of the human origin planet called Haven. Daz marries and settles, and gives birth to a daughter. Daz and Ross name their remarkable little girl Dazzle, the first meta-human born on Earth.

Dazzle inherits all the enhancements her mother has, and much more. She has incredible strength, is amazingly fast, and has an IQ that cannot be measured. In her seventeenth year, as she prepares to graduate from high school in the small town of Sunrise, Nevada, the nightmare begins again.

In the summer of 2039 the aliens return, determined to finish what they started. But this time they face the teenage super-girl. Dazzle comes equipped with evolving powers that are superior to what even her mother has. Claws. Fangs. And much more.

And she hates aliens with a passion.

Join Dazzle as she faces insectoids, robots, Reptilians and every manner of alien that one can imagine. She and her friends battle them wherever or whenever they are. Around the world, across the galaxy, and through time.

All the while, she must balance her social life. Boyfriends, parties, graduation ceremonies, backyard barbecues. Being a teen is stressful enough, never mind having to contend with alien invaders.

Dazzle got half of her DNA from her ordinary father. And when faced with situations that can’t be handled using claws and fangs, such as when boys are involved, she switches over to that DNA, becoming shy and insecure. Good thing she has her besties to steer her through the minefield that is a teenager coming of age.

    The Unthinkable

    AUGUST 17

It was midnight, there was a chill in the mountain air, and Dazzle’s black, steely claws were slowly starting to emerge from her fingers, as she sensed the presence of danger. She could almost smell death wafting through the misty air like a bad odor. She parted her full lips and allowed her fangs to grow, sharper than razor blades. A throaty growl formed deep inside her, and her eyes turned black. As black as her soul.

Mischa crept closer to her best friend where she felt safer. The two were crouching in the bushes that bordered the dirt trail, the trail that led up through the dense forest of the wilderness park. The same park that the graduating class of Sunrise High had chosen for their year-end celebratory trip.

Do we really have to kill someone tonight? asked Mischa.

That’s part of working for the Central Intelligence Agency, answered Dazzle. Right?

I guess so. It’s just that I’m scared. Mischa held her friend’s arm and pulled in even closer. She was shivering, both from the cold air and from sheer fright.

The alien we need to kill must be near, isn’t it? Because you told me before that your fangs and claws only come out when you’re about to tear something to shreds.

You’re right, Mischa. You know why I chose this particular place, don’t you?

Mischa looked around at their surroundings. It could pass for the set of a vampire movie, only it was real. Vampires aren’t real, but her friend Dazzle was far worse and much scarier than any twilight creature. Good thing Dazzle was her best friend.

There was an eerie quietness, which seemed quite unusual. Not even crickets were chirping. Combined with a dampness in the air that seeped through her clothes and seemed to enter her very pores. Even the full moon that was low on the horizon added to the feeling of dread that Mischa could not shake. It was the perfect place for a bloody killing.

But it was Mr. Jensen who told us to come here, Dazzle, you didn’t choose—

Jensen had nothing to do with us being here, Mischa. Dazzle took off her backpack and opened it, rummaging inside. She drew out a hunting knife and removed it from the sheath. The six-inch-long serrated blade glistened in the moonlight and reflected onto Mischa’s face.

Why are you using a knife? asked Mischa.

The knife is for you, Mischa, You need to defend yourself.

You’ll protect me, won’t you, Dazzle? You know I’m afraid of almost everything. Like the dark. And knives, too.

I’m sorry, said Dazzle. I don’t want to scare you. Only kill you.

    What?

Take the knife, Mischa. Try to fight back. It will be quicker that way.

Dazzle dropped the knife at her friend’s feet. Mischa just shook her head and started to crawl backward on her bum as she faced Dazzle.

Something is wrong with you, Dazzle? You don’t look right. Please, Dazzle, don’t hurt me. I love you.

    It won’t hurt.

Dazzle grabbed the girl’s ankle and pulled her close again. Then she released her ankle and took Mischa by the hair, tilting her head back and exposing her throat. The girl offered no resistance.

You don’t seem right, Dazzle, said Mischa as tears began to fall. Did they get to you? Did the aliens change you?

Why would you think that sweetie? answered Dazzle, as she slowly wrapped her claws around the trembling girl’s throat.

Please, Dazzle, begged Mischa. I can help you. Me and Sandy and Janelle can get you back to normal. Just remember I’m your friend. You saved my life, Dazzle.

And now I’m going to un-save your life.

Short and sweet, Dazzle. Short and sweet. Remember? That’s supposed to be our CIA catchphrase. So that we know it’s really us, and not an alien clone.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Mischa.

Oh my God. It’s not you, is it? You’re one of the alien clones.

Close your eyes, it will be easier.

The girl shook her head and forced her eyes to stay open, as her fingers sought out the knife at her feet.

Don’t kill me, she pleaded. Please...

    Chapter 2

    Graduation Day

June 29 - six weeks earlier

It was a beautiful day in the small town of Sunrise, Nevada, although the temperature had already reached ninety-five degrees, and it was barely past breakfast. The hot Santa Ana winds had ended for the time being, thankfully, but they had left behind a scorching furnace. The heat normally brought out the worst in people, turning folks from ordinary to ornery, and sometimes to murder. But ever since Dazzle’s mother had taken up residence in the county, crime was rare. Therefore, hot or not, it was always a beautiful day in Sunrise, Nevada.

In a larger city, high school graduation might not be the biggest event of the day, but in Sunrise, with a population of under seven thousand, the whole town seemed to be involved. Families were planning picnics. Stores advertised sales. Restaurants had special menus. Live music would be heard later at several venues. And of course, the graduation dance would be held that evening, attended by all the students and their dates. The fun would last all weekend.

Today was Sunrise’s day to hold its collective head high. There were two hundred and twenty students enrolled in grades nine through twelve, and thirty-three were grade twelves. All of them would graduate today, something the whole town was proud of.

The gym was packed with the families and friends of the graduates. Sunrise High had a reputation of being an excellent school, with many former students getting accepted into the nation’s finer colleges and universities. The reason for this was due to many factors, but having a virtually crime-free town and a strong community spirit had a lot to do with it. Sunrise was a perennial selection of the best places to raise a family.

And so, on this day, the senior class eagerly awaited the start of the proceedings.

This was the day they had been looking forward to for quite a while. The day when they would walk across the stage, receive their diploma, shake the principal’s hand, and finally graduate high school. And start new and more exciting chapters of their lives. But first, there would be boring speeches. And maybe a surprise.

Before the commencement begins, I am honored to be able to make a special award to a most deserving person, one of our students, said Principal Otterman. This young lady has shown by her courage and bravery that she can make a difference in the lives of those around her, and in her community. Her selfless act of devotion is very well-known, and she is admired by her many friends. She is truly a hero.

It’s you, Dazzle, whispered Mischa, and she smiled at her friend.

This award has been recommended by the Law Enforcement Society of the State of Nevada, which annually recognizes one civilian in the state of Nevada who has gone above and beyond what can be expected when faced with danger. The recipient of this years’ award will be a student of Sunrise High for the first time in the history of the school. Quite honestly, this is the first time that anyone from the entire county has won this award. But I must say, this student exhibited great courage, and though her size is small, her heart is big.

What—? said Mischa, suddenly feeling a bit nervous. She started shaking and her eyes grew large on her small face.

We all know how she saved her friend on the lawn of this very school, I won’t replay the events of that morning, said the principal. But from the whole town, from the state, and I think from the entire world, I say thank you to the deserving recipient of this award, Miss Mischa Schwarz.

Dazzle was sitting beside Mischa and was the first to congratulate her. Mischa was stunned and didn’t know what to do. There was a lot of cheering and applause and pats on the back from those around her. Dazzle could see that Mischa was frozen, petrified, and needed a kick-start.

Go up there, shake Otterman’s sweaty hand, take your award, and wave to the crowd, said Dazzle.

I’m scared, said Mischa. I might puke.

Try not to, said Dazzle. And don’t trip over your gown. Is that the smallest size they had?

Mischa took a deep breath and stood up.

Now go, said Dazzle, as she pushed her. Make me proud.

As everyone stood and clapped, Mischa made her way to the stage and slowly up the stairs. Halfway across the stage she stepped on her gown and tripped. But she stood up quickly, waved shyly to the assembled students, and was rewarded with a huge cheer. She hurried over to the podium. Principal Otterman shook her hand, and Mischa wiped her hand on her gown as she stole a peek at Dazzle. To the surprise of everyone, Mischa walked up to the microphone and stood on her tiptoes to speak.

I’m not good at speaking in public, she said. But I just want to share this award with three people. Janelle, Sandy, and of course Dazzle. Thank you.

She pulled up her gown slightly and walked off the stage, then turned and ran back to get the actual plaque and the envelope that the principal was still holding. Reluctantly, she shook his hand once more.

Please don’t trip again, whispered Dazzle to herself, and she crossed her fingers.

Mischa lifted her gown above her knees and hurried off the stage, as a lot of boys whistled at her.

What’s in the envelope? asked Dazzle when her friend took her seat.

Hand sanitizer first, said Mischa. Dazzle squirted some on her friend's hand, then waited as Mischa held up the manila envelope.

I’ve never won anything before in my life, said the excited girl.

Wait, I’ll take a video, said Dazzle. She aimed her cell phone and gave a thumbs up.

Mischa tore open the envelope and pulled out a cheque.

Wow! It’s a thousand bucks! exclaimed Mischa. Now I can buy some cool new clothes for when we go to college!

That plaque will look great hanging on your wall, said Dazzle.

I got just the place for it, said Mischa. My bedroom walls are totally blank.

Congrats, Mischa, said Dazzle. And I liked your speech.

Was it short and sweet? asked Mischa, with a shy smile.

It was, said Dazzle. Just like you.

ONE BY ONE, THE GRADUATING students were called to the stage, in alphabetical order to receive their diplomas. And one by one they all wiped their hands on their gowns immediately after shaking Principal Otterman’s hand.

Sandra Millicent Connor... Mischa Nadine Schwarz... Dazzle T’Mekka Shelton... Janelle Melissa Wilkins.

As tradition dictates, after all of the students had returned to their seats, they were instructed to turn their tassels. That ended the ceremony, as students gathered in their various groups to celebrate. And of course, someone in each group would announce loudly ‘Congratulations to the class’, which was the signal to throw their caps into the air. Dazzle, Janelle, Mischa and Sandy stood in a tight circle.

On my count, announced Dazzle, as the girls held their caps ready.

    One... two...

Mischa threw her cap as high as she could. The other three girls stared at her.

    What? asked Mischa.

It’s kind of normal to count to three, then throw, said Janelle.

I’m shorter, said Mischa. I have to throw mine sooner.

She’s got a point, said Dazzle. Three!

They threw their caps and had a group hug.

Come on, girls. Let’s go outside and sit on the grass, said Dazzle. And reminisce.

I have to be careful, said Mischa. If I get a grass stain on this gown it’s an extra twenty-five bucks.

Okay, let’s just walk then, said Dazzle. But pull that gown up, Mischa, otherwise you’ll be trampling on it all over town.

The four walked side by side down Main Street as they had done thousands of times before. They passed the sheriff’s office, the J.C. Penney store, Doc Ben’s office, and all the other familiar businesses.

I can’t believe we are done with Sunrise High School, said Janelle. It seems like just yesterday we were sneaking out the back door, running over and hiding under the bleachers by the football field, drinking shots, and dreaming about graduating.

We were, actually. Yesterday afternoon, reminded Sandy. Don’t you remember we slipped out while everyone was decorating the gym for tonight’s Grad Dance? And I thought I was the one with the bad memory.

I meant when we first started going to school here, said Janelle. In grade nine.

We were lucky we all got in the same class, said Mischa.

Luck had nothing to do with it, said Dazzle. "Since
