About this ebook
About the book:
DUSK, DAWN AND BEYOND has within its ambit, an astonishing range of topics, very relevant in today's world. From the narrow confines of domesticity it takes the readers to wider spheres of national and international issues. The poems also glide from lyrical effusion to unmapped and astonishing terrains, beyond the boundaries of this planet, imperceptible to the human eye.
The book is a captivating read for the variety of very familiar and interesting topics, ranging from the palpitating reality of the horrors of war and terrorism, poverty and its agonising conditions, social divides activated by national, global and domestic injustices like discrimination of race, colour and gender. The poet also denounces male chauvinism, exploitation of women, female infanticide, neglect of daughters- whiplashing at the same time, power - politics, oppressors of the poor, child labour, abuse and rape. She is strongly satirical of modern cityscapes of steel and bricks spiralling environmental pollution and destroying nature. Alongside these maladies gushes out the poetic sympathy for sufferings of the old, such as dementia, pain of loss and loneliness.
Apart from her protest against these bitter realities mentioned above, the poet does not ignore the softer vibrations of the human heart. She offers us a number of romantic poems, effusion of the poet's soul, love in all its forms, the dream of universal harmony and global unity.
Many poems embrace spirituality. Devotion to God and indignation at him for inflicting human misery are strongly present. Rage, worship and eternal love for the Almighty appear as a delightful mingle. These attitudes automatically bring into focus the mystery of death and also mysticism, in speculations of what lies beyond death.
