    Chapter No.01

    Eating Disorders

In addition to severe and persistent disturbances in eating behaviours, eating disorders are characterized by painful thoughts and feelings that accompany the eating behaviour disruption. They may be life-threatening disorders that impair physical, psychological, and social functioning, among other things. Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant restricted food intake disorder, and other specified feeding and eating disorder, pica, and rumination disorder are all examples of eating disorders. Eating disorders, when considered as a group, impact up to 5% of the population, with the majority of cases occurring throughout adolescence and early adulthood. Psychological, behavioural, dietary, and other medical issues should all be addressed throughout treatment. Various potentially deadly illnesses include cardiac and gastrointestinal issues, as well as other complications of starvation or purging habits. The presence of ambivalence about therapy, denial of the existence of an eating or weight issue, or concern about altering eating habits are all not unusual. Those suffering from eating disorders, on the other hand, may regain control of their eating habits as well as their emotional and psychological well-being with adequate medical
