Thoughts from Heaven - Travis Holmes

    Week 1

    Thinking About the Right Things

    Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,

saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,

to give you an expected end".

    (KJV)

They are a lot of times that we sit and wonder what God is thinking about us. Does He still view us as sinners? Is He waiting for an opportunity to destroy us, because pass errors and sins? How does God feel about us at this moment? The above scripture answers these questions about how God thinks about us and why He thinks this way.

The 1st thing we notice is that God is certain about how He views us. Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, The scripture indicated at the premise of this verse that states assurance about how and why God thinks the way He does about us. The scripture states, "For I know", God knows a lot of things about us, but He is certainly what He knows does not interfere in the way He thinks about us. A lot of people can’t say that what they know about us can’t interfere with how and why they think about us. To know something means to be sure without any reservation of doubt. God is not guessing, but He knows how He thinks about us.

The 2nd thing we notice is the kind of thoughts that God has about us. Jeremiah 29:11, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, The kind of thoughts is peaceful things and not evil thoughts. The word peace means the absence of confusion or trouble. They are a lot of things that trouble our minds and emotions that give us the wrong feeling, impression, and perspective about certain things. When these thoughts are not good, it generates bad and evil thoughts.

However, God's thoughts are consistent when it concerns us. His thoughts are at peace when He thinks about us. There is no confusion, trouble, and disgraceful thoughts when God views, looks, and sees us through His imagination.

The 3rd and final thing we notice is the promise that comes from thinking about the right things. Jeremiah 29:11, to give you an expected end. It is important and essential to grasp this principle about how and why we think the way we do. If we think a certain way, we should know that outcome will be the result of the way we think. God thinks this way because He already knows the outcome, but we will never have hope or assurance of walking the promise of God if we know that His thinking is wrong.

Since the Lord knows our outcome, His assurance is the promise is waiting for us, but we must be willing to yield and think the right things. He thinks this way, so our outcome will be blessed.

Prayer for the Week is to ask the Heavenly Father through the leading of the Holy Spirit to help and assist us in eliminating wrong thoughts and begin to think the right thoughts. Let us pray! Father in the name of Jesus Christ, help us this week to think the right things, so we can view all our situations with the right perspective.

    Week 2

    God Is With Us!

    Matthew 1:23

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child,

and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,

which being interpreted is, God with us".

    (KJV)

There is an illusion to believe and think that God is not with us. As human beings, we will and have encountered situations and circumstances that may us think and believe that God is nowhere around. The Bible discloses that God is present everywhere and everywhere God is present. When understanding this truth about the omnipresent God, we will God through life knowing and trusting the Lord is on our side.

The 1st thing we need to know is that God made a promise. Matthew 1:23, Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, The key to understanding the Lord will be on his side is grasping and holding onto the promise that God made us. God promised that He will send a child born of a virgin. When God makes us a promise, He will fulfill that promise. When God makes us a promise, it does not matter what we will encounter or go through. He will fulfill, which He had promised to us.

The 2nd thing we need to know is that God knows our situation. Matthew 1:23, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is being interpreted is, God with us. (KJV) The Lord knows our situation and He will provide the right resources and essentials to fulfill what we need in our lives. The scripture indicated that the child's name would be called, Emmanuel. Emmanuel means "God with us". The Lord is calling us to a place where our situation and circumstance lead us to embrace God to learn and know that He is with us. The rain, hard ache, pain, misery, etc… is calling us to a place and position to embrace the truth that God is with us.

The 3rd and final thing we need to know is that God assured us that He is with us. Matthew 1:23, "and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." God’s word assured us that He is with us. No matter what we may go through, encounter, or face, the word of God assured us that He is with us.

In conclusion, some things will make us believe and think that God is not there or with us. It is important and essential to trust, believe, and apply the word of God to know for sure that God is with us.

Prayer for the Week is to spend time with God through worship, praise, and meditating on the word of God to build our faith to know that God will never leave us. Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, help me to know that you will never leave or forsake me. Teach me through my worship, praise, prayer, and studying of your word that you will always be there. In Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

    Week 3

    Pursuing God

    Jeremiah 29:13

"And ye shall seek me, and find me,

when ye shall search for me with all your heart".

    (KJV)

When I have applied for a job, I would pursue that particular job with everything I have. I would make sure that my resume was shaped and addressed the position, which I am applying for. This same mentality should be reinforced and applied in terms of our relationship with the Lord. If we want a real and meaningful relationship with the Lord, we will pursue it. Pursuing a relationship with the Lord is going to take some consistency, effort, and time to develop and preserve that relationship. Nothing happens overnight, but with desire, discipline, and determination, it will evolve into what we should experience with the Lord.

The 1st thing we need to have is desire. Jeremiah 29:13, And ye shall seek me, and find me, We should have the desire to seek after the Lord. The word desire is like having a craving and urgency to have a certain thing. When we have a desire for our favorite meal, we pursue that desire, until we have resolved that craving from within. To order to have a desire to seek the Lord, it has to be earning and burning on the inside that states we are hungry for the Lord.

The 2nd thing we need to have is discipline. Jeremiah 29:13, "And ye shall seek me, and find me," It is going to take discipline to keep up the maintenance of having a relationship with the Lord. Our relationship is like having a car and the car must be a tune-up, oil change, etc.
