After her mother died, she was shuffled from home to home after been giving away from her dad. Marlene learned at a very early age how to survive the daily fight and trust in everyday life. So many people took advantage of her taking her money she earned working in the fields and cleaning houses. Thinking she found love and getting pregnant to being alone having her baby to trying to find a place to live and keep her baby. This book tells how she had to fight to keep a room to live in and how to feed her and the baby every day and stop people from stealing from her. What a true story you only see in the movies but she actually lived it.
