This is a story about love and responsibility. The love of a little boy and a little girl for their dog; the dog’s love for the children; the parent’s love for their children and the dog and about the difficult decisions a parent must make when their children’s safety is of concern. CHAPTER 1

    Queenie, Where Are You?

Queenie! Here, Queenie! Where are you, Queenie? Queenie! cried the little boy.

Queenie! Come here, Queenie! Where are you, girl? called the little boy’s sister.

They were searching for their dog in a field of high weeds behind their house, but she was nowhere to be found. They had been searching for her for more than a week, and they were very sad that they couldn’t find her.

More than sixty years would pass
