Reflections on Life - Dr. Jonathan C. O'Quinn
Waves
Waves thunder along the shore
The endless drumbeat of Time
Hear the Silence within
Stillness within motion
The sound of Eternity
Seasons
The frequency of attraction
Coursing through Life
No one immune…
What we project, draws like
The Universe awaits
With lowly ear
Our Nature the water’s ripples
Picked up on, to hear
An Ocean of experiences
Dip and draw deep
What is needed in the moment
Our lessons to keep
Each spirit’s blueprint
Life accedes
A soul-chartered Learning Path
Determining its needs
The flower, the snowflake
A transient state
Experiences of Life
Share that Fate
A moment, a Lifetime
Our growth is the reason
Inscrutable process
Given for a season
Sunrise
Bare winter branches reach for the sky,
Silent sentinels at the Gates of Dawn
Silhouetted against the growing colors…
Pink, gold and crimson,
Layered then swirled together like a patchwork
quilt
The Stage set, the Play begins
Spring-Time
A Restless stirring holds the air. The birds sense it,
Reflecting it in the excited tone of their chirping.
A dusting of color, shades of pink and red, graces
The tips of tree branches in the distance.
Morning air still brings a chill.
The lid of the box cracks open. Colored flashes of
Light escape, hinting at what is to be revealed.
Sounds emanate from the box, calling out in notes
Familiar, yet hard to recall, like a lucid dream
Fading like smoke upon awakening.
Early arrivals, the bluebells whisper their story in
Voices too low for most to hear, their spicy
Fragrance gathered by inhaling slowly.
Daffodils show up next to the party, splashes of
Bright yellow against the brown and green, like
Dappled beams of sunlight striking the forest floor.
New buds stir with life, as Nature opens its arms to
Embrace the season.
An ancient cycle, yet always Fresh.
Life opens and pours forth.
The Space Between
A quiet space of mind between thoughts, silent and
Elusive
A state of Peace in the background- the Origin, the
Source
Yet thoughts arise, uninvited guests, breaking
Through the stillness
Quiet all thoughts, brush them aside
Re-center…
The silent voice of God
The frequency of Creation
Detached Observer…
Mind untouched by events without
Mind, the vehicle of Spirit’s expression
Go back to that space between, the practice of
Nothing, no thought
Centered in Peace
Spirit? God’s Holy Spirit
The egocentric, self-active mind distorts the
Expression of Spirit through us
Yet also is there a Divine plan for each of us, the
Creator’s Divine Spark within,
With thoughts and plans Divine
A tug-of-war between two realities
Our thoughts create our reality… the mind’s view
Of Life is the reality
That we perceive and receive…
Thus endeavor to contemplate
