Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now? - Serena Simpson

    Acknowledgments

Iwant to say thank you to my daughter. When I sat her down and said I wrote a book, and it’s erotic, I want you to know in case someone says something to you like, do you know what your mother is writing. Her response? I’ll fight them, mom. That’s her way of accepting me no matter what. God, I love that child. Then she said I want to read it. Reluctantly I agree she is old enough to read it, so when you see it come out in paperback, it’s for my baby.

I want to thank my beta reader, who encouraged me to write it and said she loved it. Thanks to my editor, who didn’t flinch at editing it and as always, thanks to Perie, my awesome cover designer. I haven’t seen the cover yet, but Perie’s doing it case closed.

Last but definitely not least, thanks to you, my readers, new and old, for taking a chance on this book.

    Chapter One

A lthea, please... Her friend begged, drawing out the, please.

No. No means no! Althea looked over Nina’s shoulder, knowing better than to meet her eyes. She met the barista’s eyes who was ease dropping on their conversation.

You can’t even meet my eyes, which means you’re curious and maybe a little interested.

Ignoring the barista and the sexy wink he sent her way; Althea turned her attention back to her best friend.

Every time I go out with you, I end up in trouble.

What! When? Nina’s eyes took on the innocence of a manipulating six-year-old."

Most recently was that Christmas party.

    I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Let me refresh your memory. Althea closed her eyes. She could remember it like it was yesterday.

The party was at a bar downtown. One of the companies Nina was affiliated with issued an invitation for her and a plus one. Althea went knowing better.

They were a law company. What could go wrong?

    Famous last words.

    Althea, they’re doing body shots.

The music was loud, and the bar was bigger than she anticipated from the outside. It must cater to an older crowd with its pristine hardwood floors and sleek seating. There was a jukebox as well as a spot for a live band. Right now, a DJ was spinning tunes.

Thanks, no thanks, you know I am a lightweight.

There is not enough alcohol in a shot to get you drunk. Look at them. They’re sober.

I don’t know. WTF? She just slurped that out of his navel!

    It’s called a body shot.

    Nope, nope, I refuse.

Party pooper, then let’s just do a few shots.

Maybe.  The silver fox in the corner distracted her from Nina’s ramblings.

Oh, he’s hot. Now you have to do a few shots to loosen up.

She followed Nina to the bar making eye contact with the silver fox every now and then. Older men knew their way around a vagina. Her body perked up.

Bad Althea, she hit her own hand. You are not here for sex. Even if it’s beginning to remotely feel like the Sahara down there.

The bartender winked at her and poured whatever Nina requested. One sip made her think she was drinking water instead of wine, and it was clear. Shrugging her shoulders, she downed it needing the hydration. The bartender gave her another. The drinks were on the house for the next two hours.

Well, that was a generous Christmas gift. When
