The delays scrolled slowly across the departure screen, and Melissa waited impatiently in hopes that her flight would be one of the very few leaving on time. She’d rushed to get to the airport, afraid she was going to miss her flight, but as she’d gotten here, there had been word of several storms causing issues, including a tropical storm in the Caribbean that had caused cancellations.

But as the flight to Haiti flashed across the screen with a cancellation, her unfounded hopes fell.
