Connor Whiteley

Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

    Return - Connor Whiteley

    Chapter 1

He has returned, the Dark Lord Nemiel stated in a calm voice full of malice as he wandered slowly to his dark throne that was engulfed by shadow in the jet black throne room. He sat down gracefully.

He was wearing a long black robe which only covered his corrupt black armour with a crimson dragon pattern on the chest plate. Overall, Nemiel was a raven- metaphorically.

To his left was Agent X, Nemiel’s best agent and one of his best assassins. He was in his favourite clothes which were his black armour which was lovingly attached to his blood red cape. Some of the men say that the blood of his enemies is what dyed it. The Agent of Darkness was a fox, as proved over the years. Furthermore, his face had been hardened by years of war although there was a gentleness in his black eyes.

Who, my lord? Agent X asked with a puzzled look on his face.

Kieron Lord of the First Company and... stated Nemiel however he was cut off by the person on his right.

Who was Lord Death, who - as you can guess - was the master of death, destruction and pain. Basically, he was Nemiel’s ideal friend. His body completely covered in foul coal black armour and on his evil head he wore a terrifying death mask. It was as black as soot and whenever you looked at it a chill ran down your very spine. Freezing every single neurone down it! On the mask was a skull design. It was apparently a design of his own skull, but who knows?

Son of ‘Arry and Ruby, he said with pride.

Thank you, however I thought he was dead, said Agent X.

You fool, Nemiel said with a laugh. No he just left for ten years, grieving for his parents.

    So they say, Death said.

What happen after the final battle, I mean for Kieron? Agent X questioned.

Next, Nemiel stood up very quickly and smiled. Then he explained what happened, walking around the room trying to scare X as he did it.

As I stabbed ‘Arry in the heart Ruby screamed cursing me with all types of words then naturally I laughed. With all of the fury of the world she charged at me. Within a minute I sliced her little loving heart as well. She could have killed me however as me and Kieron both agree if you fight with fury; you fight badly. Luckily the First Company was near and Kieron saw it all, along with his bother Justin, Lord of the Second Company, and ordered everyone to retreat. Kieron and his company merely stood there giving me a death stare. Next they just fell back into the night and the next day Kieron was gone.

Why didn’t you kill the First? the Agent said.

Because he wanted Kieron to live and always live with death’s foul sting, Lord Death stated.

Oh you know me all too well, chucked Nemiel.

Let me hunt him down; if I crush him now then what hope is there for the rebellion? Let me redeem myself for my silly question this evening, Agent X said with hope in his voice.

No my friend we can send the army in later but for now let Kieron run free! Nemiel boomed. We will kill him but I want to see what hope he brings to the once great rebellion.

    ***

Firstly: what is Brownsea you’re probably wondering? Brownsea is an island to the south of England. It is full of people of all shapes and sizes.. In addition, animals fill Brownsea such as red squirrels, peacocks and deer. According to Brownsea folk law it was said that were very trusting.

Once, ‘Arry was walking home running away from Lord Death who was hunting. Lord Death caught up with ‘Arry and was about to kill him suddenly out of nowhere a deer came out and attacked the Lord. The deer died but it allowed ‘Arry to escape. ‘Arry took the injured deer back to the Base to try to heal it, except it died in ‘Arry’s arms.

Kieron strolled happily along the shores of Brownsea which were littered with roof tiles, bricks and pipes from the houses that were destroyed houses when Nemiel took over Brownsea. Kieron was a slim, blond boy who wore a top and trousers but if you looked closely enough under the top was a bullet proof vest and on his belt was a beautifully handcrafted dagger made by him. Furthermore, there was a gun however it wasn’t just a gun to Kieron - it was his father’s gun and it could fire any bullet.. Finally, a Lord Sword was given to the Lord of each of the four companies in was a wonderful shade of blue and with a red handle. Additionally, on his back Kieron had a black 25 litre rucksack on. It was quite full but who knows what was inside?

He wandered slowly, yet purposefully because he knew that the rebellion did a sweep of the area every hour.

The Rangers, as they were called, were as silent as the night, as cold as ice and as accurate as can be. The Rangers tended to follow their prey before killing, sometimes for weeks, although, in Kieron’s case they hadn’t even found him yet. With ten years of covering his tracks who could blame the Rangers for not finding him. Just for a laugh he purposefully made mistakes so they could track him.

Brownsea hadn’t changed much in the past ten years to Kieron because it was still the freshest, most wonderful home he had missed. Therefore, why did he leave?

As Kieron continued into the forest a cold breeze push him to quicken his pace to the rebel base and then- he heard a sound; it was a sound that he had not heard in such a long time. It was Nemiel’s men hunting down the rebels. Kieron wondered what they looked like after ten years.

He quickly, yet stealthily, ran to a nearby tree to get a clear view of the foul soldiers. They were all dressed in the same armour but unlike their leaders, their armour was sliver with golden trim around the shoulder plates. Their helmets were thick metal and covered all of their face; their eyes were covered in red glass and the mouthpiece was a grid that you could change your voice to make it scare or whatever you want. They were all strongly built with a lot of muscle. You could see clearly that there wasn’t a centimetre of fat on them - which was odd considering how much they ate. Lastly, they all carried AK-47s with a combat knife that was long and sharp at their waists.

Where is the trail now? ordered the commander in his shiny armour.

I... I don’t know, said a small boy kneeling on the ground attempting to retrace the trail.

You’re meant to be the master tracker here! the commander said with anger in his voice.

Not everybody could have got you this far, ugly, snapped the tracker.

True, but you keep failing us, he said with a smile, calmly.

Well the... the rebels are... um... um clever, the Tracker now being very nervous. Rightfully so wouldn’t you agree?

Making excuses after excuses, the Commander said with a bit of anger in his voice. It’s almost like you want them to escape.

The small tracker swallowed hard since the next thing was inevitable. He thought it best to come clean. What a fool he was.

There will always be hope here on Brownsea and all of you will dead.

    Will we? screamed the Commander.

Suddenly, the whole squad took a step back out of fear, since they knew what was going to happen. The commander took a deep breath then like lighting he took out his pistol, which was a normal standard pistol with a golden handle. Putting two shots into the tracker’s chest he laughed. Therefore, the squad thought that it was okay to laugh - so they did. The scary thing was as the shots went into the chest they exploded.

Kieron was a bit shocked at the act because of how evil it was. He wanted a shot at the leader so he took a step forward however... snap! A stick broke then he darted back behind the tree to safety, he thought.

Their leader instantly heard it, so did the men. Slowly, they advanced around the tree. Kieron’s heart was racing - it was as loud as a gun going off. Kieron gathered all of his courage, got out his father’s gun, put it on fully automatic and stepped out of his cover.

Say hello to my gun. Yes you will all die! Kieron screamed unleashing a wall of bullets at the men. By the time they realized what hit them they were already dead. With only the leader left; a bit of fear griped Kieron.

Rebel, are you ready to die? the commander said smugly.

    Are you? Kieron shot back.

Before that commander could even think about pulling the trigger, Kieron put five shots into that monster’s chest. He died instantly. The Lord of the first felt such joy then took the commander’s pistol as a trophy.

As he walked away he got pushed to the floor by something in a green robe. As a reflex he draw his sword to defend himself, except as he got up
