Kathy Stoughton
After spending decades working on the front lines in technology, retail, finance and management, Kathy changed directions and returned to school to earn a Masters in Education form Southern NH University and a Certificate in Educational Technology from MITx/Edx. At the same time, she took college courses to update her math, chemistry and other science knowledge. Then, Kathy spent over 14 years working one on one with students to better understand the issues impacting their success in math and science. What she found was that many had not learned math the right way when they were younger which along with compromising their performance in classes, also limited their career options. As a result Kathy began teaching her students a better way of learning. These days, along with continuing to tutor, Kathy writes materials for families doing the extra to give themselves a better way of learning!

Please note: As part of helping youngsters build confidence, it is good to remember that every brain is different and grows skills at its own pace. For some of the activities, the goal is similar to the strategy of introducing words and letters to youngsters long before they learn to read. The early exposure gives kids’ brains time to process the information before there is any pressure or judging. Have fun, make learning math a game because in many ways learning math is like learning a game or a sport.
