Part I: Introduction

So you bought this book for a reason. You want to make sure that your house is no longer going to flood or get damp like it’s probably been doing for a while now. Well I know exactly what you’re going through because I had the same problem myself. My basement kept getting damp and sometimes it even flooded.

I didn’t want to hire someone to come in and do the repairs because I just knew it was going to be expensive. So I decided to do the work myself. Of course I didn’t actually know anything about waterproofing a basement so there was a lot I needed to learn before I could get started.

So I did what anyone else would do when they don’t know how to do something, I started reading. I read absolutely everything that I could find about designing houses and waterproofing and everything and what I found was there is a very simple way to waterproof your house all my yourself.

Maybe simple isn’t the right word for it because you are going to have to put some work into it but you’ll be able to get it done by yourself without having to spend a fortune on a professional.

Whether you have a full basement, partial basement or only a crawlspace the method of waterproofing that I’ve found will work for you and your home. If you’re like me you’ve considered hiring a professional but that didn’t really sound all too great, they like to charge a lot for things that aren’t as difficult as most people think. But letting all your important stuff get wet in your basement is not a good idea either.
