RUNNING BETWEEN THE RAINDROPS: Startling Results from a 50 Year Longitudinal Study
()
About this ebook
As a young man, Gregory Perry ran hard between the raindrops toward something other than the drugs, jail, negative vibes, and dangers of his Harlem neighborhood to create and design the life he desired. Along the way he became a coach and teacher who used Track and Field as a catalyst in developing the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of student-athletes.
Greg has dedicated his life to understanding the impact of mental dynamics on long-term success. A large part of his work involved a 50-year longitudinal study of student-athletes that, among other things, studied the parallels between academics and athletics. The achievement measurement for Track was qualifying for national and international competitions, the Olympic trials, Pan American Games, or the Olympics. Biomechanical sciences were also used to secure youngsters a college education and advocate for them until their college graduation. Greg's efforts led to the development of a six-step success formula that can be used to successfully set and achieve goals in school, sports, work, and life. It can unlock your inner greatness.

TESTIMONIALS
As I entered Crown Trophy after 5 years, the acknowledgement of pride and history filled my soul with joy and priceless memories. I entered Crown Trophy with the usual ambition of ordering a plaque that honored an educator who is retiring. I understood that ordering might seem simple to an onlooker, however this experience with Greg, the owner, is invaluable. This particular Tuesday, just like any other day of operation with Greg, was inviting, exploratory, and meaningful. On this day, the procedure was the same as it was 20 years ago. I was welcomed with professionalism, support and excellence. The positive connections remained the same, but my twenty years of meaningful experiences with Greg, his beloved mom, and his many employees exemplified the importance of community and the recognition of an invaluable journey where customers are valued and uplified.

I met Gregory Perry at the age of 12, running for the West Side YMCA. He taught us a basic formula, H+D2=S. aka PD2H, which is hard work plus dedication and determination equals success. I taught this basic formula to all five of my children and today, all five have graduated from college. Tree with master degrees and two doctoral candidates. The formula works.

There is an incomplete myth lurking around out there that encourages us to believe all we have to do in order to succeed is work hard and there will be gain . . . Hard work pays of,
it claims. My husband and I adopted this mindset for years, and what we got from it were bags under our eyes from sleepless nights (not in Seattle), weight gain from eating on the go, and many visits to our primary care physician for aches and pains gained from believing that incomplete advice . . . Well, fast forward, years later my husband and I were building our 501(c)(3) cancer awareness organization when we met a man who completed the advice above . . . who said to succeed (1) you must work hard to see the fruits of your labor (2) you must work smart to maintain the rewards (3) you must seek grace in all you do." That sound and complete advice was passed on to us from the author of Running Between the Raindrops, Greg Perry, who would go on to become our mentor, advisor and friend.
Greg has the natural ability and awareness to understand and bring forward the gifs that lie in the space between sentences.
