    The noble Polish family Odyniec

Odyniec. In a blue field a vertical, silver, featherless arrow, the shaft of which is crossed by a short bar, then broken at the bottom diagonally; sometimes the arrow is still elevated with a golden star; Helmet decoration: five ostrich feathers. About the origin it is said: In the battles against the Tatars there was a soldier in the Russian army who was very strong, took on the strongest man in a struggle, and distinguished himself against the enemy through bravery and successes. In the Russian lands it was customary to call a very strong man Odyniec (wild boar), and that was the general name of the soldier; in a fight he shot the leader of the Tatars who fled; the Fiihrer's corpse was found in which the arrow was broken. The prince gave the soldier this coat of arms, which, like himself, he called Odyniec. Do the same thing:

Barynowski, Bohusz, Brozowiecki, Brzozowiecki, Burba, Holcowski, Odyniec, Odynski, Szostowicki, Szyszka, Wislouch.
