Treating the Tyrant - Julie Scarlet

Chapter 1

Marco

My footsteps are loud in the alley, and I duck as another bullet pings off of the brick in front of me. I’m lucky these guys are a bad shot, or I would be dead already. I can’t believe Mickey double crossed me. They don’t call me the reaper for nothin’ and he is going to get his.

I round a corner, hearing the scuffle of their footsteps behind me. The honk of a car horn and someone yelling is abruptly cut off by gunfire. Whoever the idiot was that thought he should drive through this alley at night just had his Christmas canceled.

I kick in the door in front of me, using the sounds of the gunfire to mask the sound. Hustling in, I lean against it as I hear the others run past, looking for me.

I shake my head. It’s a good thing Mickey hires the dumb ones, or I would be toast.

Leaning my head back against the doors, I let the adrenaline subside and access my injuries.

Blood is pouring from a graze on my forehead, there is a hole in my hand spouting blood and I’m pretty sure there is a hole through my shoulder. In a word, I’m a mess.

Being the boss of the Valetti crime family isn’t all it’s cracked up to be but when Pops was killed in a drive by last year the responsibility to fill his shoes as the Don of one of the most ruthless and notorious crime families in Boston passed to me.

The Italians and Irish had always fought for turf in this city, but when I became Don, I tried to make amends with them. We all make more money if we work together. I thought Mickey two weeks was down for the deal, but tonight just proves what a double crosser he is.

I narrow my eyes and get up off the floor, leaving a bloodstain as I stagger down the nondescript hallway. I need to find out where I am and how I’m going to get out of here alive.

Reaching for my cell phone to call in backup, I find empty air. Must have dropped it somewhere in the chase.

Reaching for the first door, I come to me open it and find myself in some kind of medical clinic.

Kissing the cross around my neck, I thank God for his kindness. Hopefully, the doc can be persuaded to stitch me up without any records. If he doesn’t seem inclined well, like I said, they don’t call me the Grim reaper for nothin’.

Hello, is someone out there? I grin and walk a little farther down the hall. The waiting room is deserted. Makes sense for this part of town at 3am.

If you’re hurt, please call out. The voice comes, a little scared but with some strength. You have to admire this lady’s gumption.

She walks around the corner, and I stop dead in the middle of the hallway, my gun hanging limply by my side.

I look towards the ceiling and send up another prayer of thanks. Not only has the man upstairs sent me to a clinic, he sent me an angel as well.

She stands at the end of the hallway, her long dark hair braided away from her face. Her porcelain skin looks good even under the fluorescent lights and her bright blue eyes are wide with terror but also a bit of annoyance. You can tell that this is no wilting flower.

She’s not tall, maybe 5’2" if she’s lucky, but she has curves for days.

The swell of her breasts isn’t hidden by her scrubs and even that shapeless garment looks good on her.

I can’t do anything but stare. I feel as if I’ve been hit by a train. There is an instant connection with this Italian angel. She is going to be mine no matter what happens. When Marco The Grim Reaper Vaeletti wants something, he gets it.

Looks if you have a gunshot wound go to the ER, I can’t help you. Her voice wobbles a bit as she stares at me. The only sound as her voice fades away is the drip of my blood onto the floor.

Look sweetheart, I will not make it to the ER, as you can see. Just stitch me up and I will be on my way. No harm no foul. I give her a grin that has won many hearts in Little Italy, but she continues to frown at me. The fact that she is immune to the Vaeletti charm just piques my interest more. There is nothing I like better than a challenge.

I don’t think you heard me, babe. Go get the doctor and have him sew me up and I will be gone out of your gorgeous hair. I smile again, knowing that I will be back for this beauty. She is a rare one and I love things that are rare.

A fire ignites in those blue eyes, and she cocks a hip, putting one slim hand, drawing my gaze to the outline of her hourglass figure. Despite my injuries, I feel my cock jump in my pants.

Here I am bleeding to death and my dick wants to come out and play. That is what this Italian siren is doing to me.

First, I am the doctor. Second, we don’t treat mobsters. The word comes out of her dripping with disdain as she looks me over. She has to crane her head back to take in my 6’4" inch frame, but she manages it the entire time, her full lips curled with disdain.

Look honey, I hate to do this, but I will if I have to. I raise the gun with my good hand. It’s my left, so I hope she doesn’t take long to decide to fix me up or it’s going to start shaking. I can shoot with this hand, but it is nowhere near as good as my
