INTRODUCTION
When your marriage is falling apart, what do you do?
Should you:
1. try to make it work
2. leave the relationship
3. pretend there is nothing wrong
L et’s pause and take a look at these options. You can’t make
anyone do anything; that’s their choice, so it likely won’t work. It’s also likely that, if you are reading this book, you want your marriage to work, so leaving isn’t an option. And pretending nothing is wrong is simply irrational. You won’t acquire anything but a broken heart.
Luckily, these three choices are not your only options. I’m offering you another option; get help now. I know you probably don’t want anyone else dabbling in your marriage. You don’t think you need anyone to tell you what you already know- your marriage is in distress, and you don’t know what to do. So you may not be ready for counseling, and that’s okay. However, if you want your marriage to work, it’s imperative to educate yourself and try to make adjustments that will turn things around.
If you want change in your marriage, it’s a good idea to try learning new skills. If you’ve been doing the same thing for years and it hasn’t worked, it probably won’t, and it’s time to reevaluate. That’s what we are all about: healing and restoring broken marriages. Restoration comes when two hurting people decide to work together as a team with the same goal in mind. When this happens, healing can occur.
