We’ve beaten Ally and Alex to the altar not once but twice!

Once Alex got over the shock of us getting married while we were away, without his presence, he was honestly happy for us! It was kind of scary just how happy he was in the end! It felt a little like overkill happy but hey, I’m not gonna complain!

We were planning on having a renewal of our vows after Ally and Alex’s wedding. Mia didn’t want to do it before their wedding because we’re already married, so the timing doesn’t matter to us. Ally and Alex already had most of their wedding plans in place and paid for. Well, deposits had been put down anyway. If Alex didn’t have such fertile and determined swimmers, then he and Allycat would be getting married today. As it turns out, when Ally found out she was pregnant, she decided she didn’t want to organise her wedding and get married around an ever-expanding belly. Her words, not mine!

So, here we are. Beating them to it again! We’ve taken their date and the things they couldn’t get refunds on. Most of them we would have had anyway, every party needs food, right? All we did was change a few menu items and the colours that we, I should say Mia, wanted. Personally, I couldn’t give a shit what colour anything is. A few people thought it was strange, two couples trading wedding dates but hey, who gives a shit what other people think. We’re doing what’s right for the four of us and if they don’t wanna come cause it’s ‘weird’, that’s their choice!

It put a little bit of pressure on Mia and myself, but it isn’t anything we couldn’t handle. It’s taken the pressure off Ally and that’s what’s important to all of us! Not more important than Mia, but the fact is, Mia is already my wife. We’re doing this for our family and close friends so that we can all celebrate together.

Alex gets to walk Mia down the aisle like he wanted to, I get to marry the love of my life again and Ally gets the pressure taken off her for a while. Everyone’s winning!

And Mia, well she gets the wedding I feel like I stole from her. I know she says that I didn’t, that she wanted to get married where and when we did. I have no doubt about that whatsoever but seeing her excitement while she was planning all of this, I’m 100% sure that this is the right thing to do.

Personally, I’m happy to declare my love for my wife again and again. The party, well that’s just a bonus. She’s my wife and I’m living in my happy bubble right now.

Not to mention, I‘ve made my brother in law, a very happy man and if for that reason alone, I’d do this many times over!

OH. MY. GAWD! IT’S today already!

I don’t know why I’m so nervous. I’m not even sure that’s the right way to describe how the hell I’m feeling, to be honest.

Dan’s already my husband, so what on earth do I have to be nervous about? He can run away today, not be at the altar, decide he doesn’t want to go through with today, but we’ll still married so it makes no fucking difference! Nothing changes today, except for the fact that we’re saying vows in front of, oh just about everyone we know! I think that’s what my problem with today is. When we got married it was Dan, myself, a couple of witnesses and the celebrant. No pressure, just us becoming Mr. & Mrs Robson. Simple and easy, just the way we both wanted it.

I know Alex was upset with us getting married without him, but it was the right thing at the time and I wouldn’t change that for the world. I’m not doing this big wedding thing to make it up to Alex either, well not entirely anyway. We were originally just going to throw a ‘reception’, just have the party and everyone could celebrate with us. Then I asked Dan if he would mind doing a quick ceremony too, a quick renewing of our vows and that way all our nearest and dearest could say they ‘saw’ us get married. His answer made me love him even more and was, well it was short, sweet and simple:

Yes. I will marry you anywhere, anytime and as many times as you like.

Then Ally got pregnant! Apparently, my brother has very determined swimmers, something I never, EVER wanted to know about him to be honest! WHY they decided to forgo condoms while planning a wedding is beyond my comprehension and well, I think Ally is wondering how he managed to convince her as well! At a guess, she thought it would take months to get pregnant and she would have time to plan and have her wedding before anything happened. She really didn’t take into account my brother’s dedication to have his baby growing in her belly and well, he sure did make it happen. Ally tried to tell me the finer details, but I really don’t want to know anything about my big brother's sex life, ever! It sounds like he hit the mark within the first couple of ‘tries’ and bang! Ally didn’t want to get married with an ever-expanding belly and I can’t say I blame her. The only problem was, she’d already planned out the entire thing and paid deposits on everything. Some places gave her refunds and were happy to do so, others weren’t so accommodating.

This was where Dan and I stepped in! I pulled him aside one night after we’d had dinner at my brother’s one night and Ally was upset about the few companies who chose to not be so generous. I suggested to Dan that perhaps we could take over the date and certain things that we would like to keep and that would then take some of the burden off Ally and Alex. He agreed right away, and we went back to the kitchen and to tell them our plan. Ally cried all over again! I don’t think I want to be pregnant, those hormones really kill a girl!

I know it might seem weird to some people, but it worked out well for all of us. They can have our date in a few months and my niece or nephew will be here to enjoy it. It’s not exactly how Ally wanted it, but she let my brother get his hands on her, so she gets to deal with the fallout. It’s not like she wasn’t there when he got her pregnant!

So, I think that’s why I have my emotions all over the place today. It’s not nerves about getting married, I’m already Mrs Mia Robson, it’s about all the extra pressure and rushing around to get things organised. I nod to myself, I know I can’t wait to marry my husband today!

Hey Mia, they’re about ready for you. Are you ready to go? Ally says as she walks back into the room. I asked her to just give me a few minutes of alone time before I walk out and meet Alex so that he can walk me down the aisle. Oh Mia! Dan is going to swallow his tongue! You’re gorgeous! I can see the tears starting to well up in her eyes, if she starts crying that will be the end of me too!

Stop! Don’t cry again Ally, I can’t do that right now! I say and look away from her.

Damn right she looks gorgeous! Dan is one lucky bastard and he better treat my sister right, or I’m going to be kicking his scrawny arse! I hear Alex walk in before I turn to look at him.
