    You cannot seriously speak of the Norse and Germanic tribes, which can be identified from 400 BCE, without considering their pagan religions because these were fundamental to their existence. The earliest evidence of their existence can be seen in the megalith culture that is recognized by large hewn stones tombs and standing stones, which can be seen all over Northern Europe, especially in Scandinavia, and Northern Germany. With their massive monuments of ton-heavy hewn stones they are evidence of the beliefs and death cults of old histoic civilization that has endured ravages of time, but especially in those areas typically found in South Scandinavia, we see the evidence of old Norse period.

    However, there were many different categories of their religions which came from the early medieval ages and were part of Norse mythology. The main differences we can see in the geographical regions and the developed mythologies are between those from Iceland in the North Atlantic and those from Germanic tribes. Apart from the evidence in stones, other differences can be seen in their cultures and regions. There is little written evidence from the times of the mythological cults and the differences go deep into archeology, with only a few relevant surviving historic scriptures explaining the relevant beliefs of the tribes.
