DEDICATION AND
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
25180.pngThis book is dedicated to my loving parents, Harvey A. and Lennie Echols Simpson, who taught us the value of honesty, hard work and a loving family.
I am grateful to my younger brothers, Fred C. and Claude Simpson, for their help in providing valuable quotations and Biblical research.
To my older brother Leonard, for a lifetime of brotherly inspiration.
For the Biblical and Historical research done by so many scholars and historians throughout time, and to the many loving teachers who made so much of this knowledge available to me in my lifetime, I am very grateful.
Although the ideals and beliefs expressed in this book illustrate how I strongly feel, they are also the feelings of many Americans throughout our history and I am grateful to them for making their thoughts known to us.
FOREWORD
25184.pngThis writing is blunt and to the point, perhaps harsh in the eyes of some, so anyone with a weak stomach, anyone who is weak-kneed or spineless, probably should not read further.
It offers some history (sorely lacking today), some skepticism and ridicule, a little fatherly advice and a large amount of fear and concern for the future of this great land called America and the American people.
This is an attempt to express my thoughts and beliefs based on more than three-quarters of a century of observing what goes on in the world, especially the actions of what can be called the enemy within
, and considerable research.
It is hoped that these words will, at least, cause some people to think about the state of our nation, ask questions and demand leaders who truly care about the country and the American people, not just their own selfish interest.
All opinions expressed herein, good or bad, are my own, after considerable research.
Warning: This writing could cause some people, who have blindly followed or believed in the doctrines or teachings of the liberals, to question or rethink those teachings
.
PROLOGUE
25186.pngAmerica, love it or leave it
For a lot of years now I have felt that many Americans no longer love our country. It’s hard to say if they don’t love our nation or have just become complacent and lazy. You see so few places, homes and businesses, that still fly the American flag.
Over forty years ago I made the observation that most Americans are just too comfortable. If a problem doesn’t affect them directly, in a serious and uncomfortable way, they just don’t seem to care. So often, when they do see a problem, you hear them say someone should do something about that
. As though they are not someone.
It seems that most people could be put in a long line, side-by-side, with someone going down the line hitting each one with a club, and most would not say or do anything until he gets to them. They would hope the assailant would get tired or break the stick. As the saying goes; just don’t take away my cold beer and my TV remote
.
How many people do you know who call or write to their representatives? or write to their local newspaper to voice their opinion on important matters?
No doubt most Americans would be hard pressed to tell you the names of their political leaders
and even less likely to know where those office-holders stand on the most important issues or how they are voting on those issues. Thomas Jefferson said If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed
.
So often we hear people say I am only one person; what can I do?
Or they say my one vote won’t make a difference.
They don’t realize that by adding their one voice to a hundred or a thousand other one voices
can make a difference. That many voices can get the attention of most politicians. Especially at election time. Elections have been decided by one vote.
Today many people rely on the major networks, national news, for almost all information. If they don’t see it on their favorite network, it doesn’t exist. If they do see it on their channel, no matter how false or incorrect, they take it as gospel truth. They don’t care to research the matter and find the true facts.
People don’t realize, the major news agencies are the greatest tools of the left-wing socialists, bent on taking down our country.
With news media, daytime soaps and late night, would-be comedians, TV has caused more brain damage than a pandemic of encephalitis.
As old time cowboy humorist, Will Rogers, said; how do you know when a politician is lying? His lips are moving.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
The U.S. Flag, adapted on June 14, 1777, is the fourth oldest national flag in the world. The oldest being Denmark’s flag, adapted in 1219.
Our National Anthem was written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, during the War of 1812. It was set to music by a church organist, John Stafford Smith. The U.S. Navy started using the song in 1889. Congress passed a resolution making it our National Anthem in 1931. It was signed into law by President Herbert Hoover.
HISTORY – A BRIEF REVIEW
25188.pngWe must indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly, we shall all hang separately
Benjamin Franklin
For the somewhat older American this can be considered a review, or reminder, of things we were taught in our earlier years when history and geography were considered important subjects. For some of us, the days of the simple two-room schoolhouse.
For the younger reader, who might not have been given the opportunity or privilege of learning how our nation was formed and what the cost was for so many of our founding fathers, it is hoped that this short history will spark an interest in learning more.
It took a lot of years and tremendous sacrifice for America to become a nation from the time when Christopher Columbus first discovered her by accident, while searching for a shorter trade route to Asia in 1492. It took almost three hundred years for it to become an independent nation. After a considerable amount of fighting, suffering and dying.
The people who settled in the new world that came to be known as America were, for the most part, courageous individuals. Perhaps some could be called adventure seekers but most were people who could no longer tolerate cruel, oppressive rulers. They were willing to abandon what had been their homeland, and many relatives and friends, in hopes of finding a better life for themselves and their families. To find these freedoms they were willing to risk everything, to cross a vast ocean in rather crude sailing vessels, to an uncharted wilderness where, only God knew what awaited them.
These early revolutionaries were well aware of the bad side of a thing called human nature. The selfishness, greed and weaknesses of mankind. They and their fellowmen had been ruled and abused by kings and dictators and envisioned a better world for themselves.
Unfortunately, being across the wide Atlantic Ocean did not totally remove them from the oppressive hand of King George III (Jun 4, 1738 – Jan 29, 1820), since America was considered to be a British possession, and he continued to demand more and more taxes. There was the Stamp Act and the Townshend Act (tea tax) which resulted in the Boston tea party on 16
